But then woobles, the motherfuckering trying to have a monopoly on beginners is so gross. Like their Funko pop egg looking crochet plushies are ugly as fuck AND INSANELY over priced.
Like you could have the choice to pay $40+ for a sub-par product and materials
Or buy the advanced and amazing fan pattern and material yourself for like $15 while supporting independent artists and making connections
Like idrgaf if they are allowed to do it, it's fucked up that we have to restrict art and creativity in the name of corporate profits. God forbid you want to make a more advanced Minecraft, hellow kitty, etc crochet plushie to make as a gift for a loved one rn if wobbles has the collab copyright.
They fact of the matter is the wobbles are *too* basic. If I wanted just a round figure that would be easy and can be done by eye for most people with even the smallest amount of experience. But if you want an advanced artist pattern that is for ppl who are deeper into the craft, you should be able to buy or publish that. It's weird to consider how they are apparently all about "teaching beginners" yet actively gatekeeping fiber artist references and resources

Okay so I will start out with this post by saying I am not a new Furby fan, I was born in 98' and literally gifted a yellow furby baby whenever I was a baby. My current furby collection includes 98', Boom, Connect and Now the new 2023 Furby. (I'm on the look out for 2005 too)
I bought myself lil Aurora here on a post-christmas sale. I believe it's one of the first times I have had a new Furby to unbox and I will say, first off, I am genuinely impressed with the packaging.
This adorable little cardboard key system and the little furby living in their own lil studio apartment in the box genuinely made me smile!
Also seeing a lil bipoc girl as a bipoc person myself made me extremely happy, I'm sorry the sharing the furby beads idea got me and is absolutely adorable to me!! I really liked the inclusion of the background piece for toy photography too!

Keeping in mind the demographic of this furby, I genuinely love it and don't think it's nearly as "soulless" as people are saying.
Let's start out with a quick Pros & Cons list:
Pros:
No App (sorry furby connect!)
Necklace so cute and the beads are actually high quality custom beads
Comb is so cute I would buy it by itself!
Love the eyelashes and 3d eyes back
Love the LED ears
I like that you push the button to speak instead of it listening 24/7
Love the different play modes
Cons:
No moving beak
Color scheme is... Okay! I feel like I'd love to see one in a 98' natural color palette
Necklace could be fiddly for some to make, especially if they have dexterity issues
Sooooooo, as you can see I have quite the positive view overall of this furby which kinda did surprise me. However I feel like it should be stated that they are not trying to create the same toy they did in 98' and they definitely know they are not marketing to the same demographic.
The moving beak: I think this is most people's issue about the new model but honestly? I can somewhat understand not including it. I feel like kids nowadays who all grew up with FNAF could possibly have an impact on how fun they would think it is to put your finger in a robot creatures mouth, genuinely. Alot of people think furbies are scary on their own, So I could understand not wanting to include it and also including the option to feed with the plastics pizza (which also has the added benefit of being more disability friendly in my case)
I will also add that I think this may be my favorite furby in terms of actual software programed intended play. I think they wanted to genuinely create a friend/companion experience for children post-2020. I love the inclusion of mindfulness via lets chill mode! Its so silly but as someone who does yoga basically every day, whenever I found out I could go yoga with my furby I was HOOKED whdjkd
Also with the inclusion of light show, she becomes a night light for 10 mins before going to sleep herself. I love promoting healthy habits like that, or just have the added stimulation for neurodivergent folk like me who like mood lighting. I love that they also stepped back a lot of the a lil too gross and annoying humor from 2016 furby connect and furby boom.
I don't really know why they removed the moving beak but other than that, I actually genuinely love 2023 furby. To me, it seems like other than the beak, they actually spent a lot of time taking feedback from previous models and implementing it into the new one and were so close to making it a really good spirit successor. I got my furby on sale for a post Christmas sale for 50$ from my house Walmart and I feel like that's definitely worth it but 70 originally is a bit steep.

We recently switched our phones to Android and I was heartbroken to find out the My Tamagotchi Forever app is not available for Android and is an IOS exclusive. Which I have been playing for literally years until switching phones! So they told me they got me this new baby as a surprise since I couldn't have the app anymore on my android!
So now I have a brand new tamagotchi to keep with me always! I'm so excited to crochet a little cozy for them 😭
Also Macaroni is already jealous of our new pet it seems 🐈
