For @cottoncandyfeuilly, because I think they’re doing themself a sad.
Feuilly stares at the mishmash of objects on their desk until they begin floating in and out of focus. Maybe they’ll go back to sleep for a while, or maybe- There’s a sound close behind them and they sit up with a start. They nearly fall off their chair as they turn around.
“It’s just me,” Claquesous grumbles, swinging one leg over the windowsill.
“Just you climbing through my fucking window!” Feuilly breathes, heart pounding.
“You weren’t at your thing,” Claquesous says accusingly, sitting down in the window and crossing his arms. “You said you’d be at that rally thingy with your friends.”
“Yeah, I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night,” Feuilly mutters, staring at their friend. They can just see the suspicious look in the eyes behind the mask. They have never seen Claquesous in broad daylight before. Somehow they presumed that the mask was an evening dress thing. Apparently not.
“Why didn’t you sleep?” he demands to know.
“Why are you sitting in my window?” Feuilly retorts.
“Because you weren’t at your thing,” Claquesous says impatiently.
“Okay, how are you sitting in my window?” Feuilly rephrases. Seriously, they want to know, they are not on the ground floor.
“Scaled a wall,” Claquesous shrugs. “And used the drainpipe. Stop avoiding the question.”
Right, that’s fair, like Claquesous isn’t the undisputed king of evading questions. “Sometimes you sleep, sometimes you don’t,” they say, looking away. “Can we not talk about it?”
“Okay,” he agrees. There’s a short silence. “So…you’re not going to your thing?”
“No,” Feuilly sighs. “Don’t feel like going outside to be honest.”
Claquesous nods. “Can I come in?”
Feuilly grimaces to hide their smile. “You basically have already,” they say.
“No I haven’t,” he contradicts. “That would be invasive of me. I wouldn’t do that.”
“Right,” Feuilly grins. “Come in then.”
Claquesous swings his other leg over and hops off the windowsill. “Nice place,” he says, looking around approvingly.
Feuilly frowns. “Hey, yeah, you’ve never been here. How do you know where I live!”
Claquesous smirks.
