Converting OBD1 non-Vtec to Vtec
Converting OBD1 non-Vtec to Vtec: First off you need to find out what revision board you have.
Notes: Iv only ever done this on P27 large case and P05 small case ECU most this info can be found on PGMFI fourms spread across many threads, This is just the info that iv used. You will need to have a chipped ecu with vtec function enabled for vtec to work. Pressure switch needs to remain disabled.
Identify your board revision: You ECU will have a revision number up top of it. You need to look for a serial number like “XXXX11F0-1500″.
1720 revisions Parts: SK-5050S 5 pin high side switch (SK-5151S also works) Iv only ever found this in scrap ECUs or by taking them from auto to manual converted ECU’s. NTE2361 Transistor 1uF 35V Tantalum Capacitor 1K Resistor 10k Resistor 51K Resistor 12K Resistor 1n4001 Diode
Instructions: NTE2361 Transistor goes in Q26 1uF 35V Tantalum Capacitors goes in C60 SK-5050S goes into IC14 this can be taken from IC13 with J10 jumperd or IC15 and IC16 if your converted a auto ECU to manual as its no longer used. Jumper J10 with a wire. 1K resistor goes into R67. 1n4001 Diode goes into D11. Here is the most tricky part. 10k, 51K and 12K resistors go into RM11. Honda uses a strange long style resistor with multipal pins. Iv been unable to find a replacement part but using these 3 resistors has worked.
Pin1 and 2 use the 10K resistor. then from pin2 and 3 use the 51K resistor. Then finally for pin3 and 8 use the 12K resistor.
I found this pic on the PGMFI forum and shows what I mean. You will now have vtec function for a 1720 ecu from pin A4 on the ECU.
11F0 revisions (Iv done 2 of these so far with P27′s)
Parts: SK-5151S 5 pin high side switch (SK-5050S will not work as the current is more then it can handle) Iv only ever found this in scrap ECUs or by taking them from auto to manual converted ECU’s. NTE2362 Transistor 1uF 35V Tantalum Capacitor 10K Resistor 1n4001 Diode
Instructions: 1uF 35V tantalum capacitor goes in C60. Jumper J10 with a bit of wire. 10K resistor goes into R201. SK-5151S goes into IC14 This can be taken from IC15 or IC16 on auto to manual converted ecu. Diode goes on D11 NTE2362 transistor goes on Q101 or you can take this from Q27 or Q28 on manual ecus. (Auto or manual converted autos dont have these transistors installed).
You will now have vtec function for a 11F0 ecu from pin A4 on the ECU.
