The future of RBXL-Wanderer

Hey y'all. Over the past few years, I've had a ton of fun finding all sorts of games and showcases on Roblox to show to everyone on here. That being said, Roblox has made (and continues to make!!!) a number of changes recently that have severely limited the amount of fun I have with the platform; namely the killing of unrated experiences and removal of all-chat. Many games I've posted about on here are no longer playable, and likely never will be again.

The changes to game ratings and availability have also made it much harder to find good amounts of games for posts when I've been running mostly off of a daily schedule. It kills my enthusiasm seeing loads of potentially interesting games that nobody can access anymore, even though an incredibly vast amount of them are perfectly acceptable for all ages.

All that being said, I think it's about time I stop doing daily posts on here. I may come back from time to time with a new post (and I'll still check out anything that y'all send to me), but I no longer want to hold myself to the self-imposed expectation of finding a new and unique game every single day. To those of you who have interacted with my posts and left comments about your own experiences with the games I've posted on here over the past couple of years, please know that I really appreciated getting to read them.

I think that's all I've got for now. If Roblox ever changes course and I find myself having more fun with the platform again, I may come back and start doing more frequent posts. For now though, this is probably it for anything consistent. Thanks for everything, y'all.

Hey y'all! Without going too much into Recent Events on the platform, it's looking like Roblox is going to be restricting access for unrated games to the owners and devs of said games in the coming months. This... really sucks! Like. A lot!!! I don't have specifics, but I'm sure that a very large number of games/experiences that I've featured on here are unrated because they were created long before the rating system was implemented, and likely will never have a rating submitted. As someone who loves exploring long-forgotten games and virtual spaces, this change is going to be absolutely devastating.

That being said, if you have a game/experience that you care about that happens to be unrated (or even just something that you found randomly that you think is neat), please feel free to send it my way so I can take screenshots and add it to the blog. I'm not sure if you can send links through asks on Tumblr, so just the game's name and ID from the URL should be sufficient.

I'm hoping that the Roblox team realizes how destructive this change would be (and how little impact it would have on the issues that they're "trying" to solve), but I guess we'll see what happens. Either way, my plan is to continue running this blog even if they go through with restricting all the unrated games. There are so many awesome little projects that people have made on Roblox in spite of everything, and it's been fun getting to share them with people.

Howdy! Hopefully you don't mind me publicly replying, but it makes me super happy that you're enjoying the blog! There's so much cool stuff to find on Roblox, and I really like having somewhere to document all of it. (It's also been nice having an archive of game screenshots, as some of the ones I've posted in the past are no longer available to play. It makes me sad every time one gets set to private, but at least I have some record of the game existing.)

Also yeah, I use the Roblox search as more of a starting point for finding things, rather than the end-all be-all solution. I've found that adding key words in quotation marks can be helpful for finding new games occasionally, as it forces the search to display games that have that word in their title. (That's why so many of the showcase games have "Showcase" in their title on here, btw.)

Otherwise, one of my main methods of finding stuff is digging through the Favorites tab of people that have made games that I like, or the Favorites of people that have interacted with those games. You'd be amazed at how much of the stuff on here was originally found through someone's Favorites page. The obscure game finder is incredible for automating this process since it goes through the favorites of whoever you enter, their friends, their friends' friends, etc.

I can't believe it's already been a full year!

I don't really have anything super special planned, I just wanted to say that I appreciate everyone that's showed up over the course of the past year. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep up with uploads or if this blog would even be noticed in the sea of other posts on here, but it really does make me happy that people have enjoyed what I'm doing with the blog.

I didn't quite get a post every day for 365 days, but I came a lot closer than I originally expected I would. (And I'm still going strong! There's SO MANY GAMES TO FIND.) As always, if you've found a game that you'd like to see on here, feel free to send the game ID my way!
