So,non-RWBY content incoming. RWBY appears to have been a bit of a gateway drug and I’ve been looking for animated shows/anime to fill the hiatus and I just finished watching “Bloom Into You.” Sorry, no fight scenes or monsters. But it’s one of the loveliest shows I’ve ever watched. The animation and the score are breathtaking.
And the story would have been a revelation to teenage me.
Without giving too much away the story centers around Yuu Koito and Touko Nanami and their developing relationship.
Being gray-ace/demi myself a lot of what they both were going though really resonated with me especially Yuu feeling like she was broken by not understanding the whole “love” thing and slowly making that emotional connection. There are also some cute and sad side wlw moments such as Sayaka ‘s unrequited love for Touko and a really sweet adult pairing that was treated as pretty much normal. It made me track down the still-ongoing manga which lets just say gives me more satisfaction than the bittersweet cliffhanger-ish ending of the anime. Since the manga will eventually be ending there are rumors that there will be a season 2 of the anime and I really hope so.
