I've officially started off my summer reading list with The Lovely Bones. This was such a well written story, filled with so much emotion. I got chills during certain parts because of the details Sebold used describing subject matter that mankind can only imagine. Family, love, resentment and death are blended into a touching account of a young girls journey into the afterlife. The protagonist is a loving pre-teen who was murdered by an awkward neighbour. The story is told from her vantage point in heaven and makes you question your own life and relationships on earth as well as the possibility of an afterlife. A complex array of characters and their experiences makes the story so full of wonder and intrigue. Finally, my favourite aspect of the book is that numerous parts read like poetry and flowed so artistically. A great read and I'm definitely going to watch the movie very soon to compare!
