Inric is reading Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit (probably in the original Japanese, but it is available in English). Nahoko Uehashi, the author, is a Professor of Ethnology, and it shows; all of her creations have fantastic worldbuilding.

Finding a good book for Vincathaxis was hard, but I chose From Far Away because it's a rare portal fantasy where the main character has to learn the language of the world she's pitched into. Plus, it's really good. I should read it again.

Nazarchtharin is considering a book called, fittingly enough, Consider the Fork, by Bee Wilson. It covers more than just the fork, being a well-told and engaging history of how we eat. It seemed appropriate for Nazarchtharin - it's not a recipe book, but would make a good addition to their hoard :)

Further to my last post, I am very happy to say that volume 1 is now free to download - you can get it in pdf and ebook form, or from Amazon, or from a variety of other ebook stores. This goes along with the release of volume 4, so if you are that way inclined you can have the whole set on your ereader of choice. If you are wondering what the point of getting the ebook is, given that the entire comic is free to read on this very site (and plenty of others), there are extra bonuses. First, the art has been touched up and in one or two places the comic itself has been edited to read a bit more smoothly. Second, and more importantly, there are excerpts from the Great Library, featuring Inric's notes and additions to texts and, later on, writing from other characters - including a recipe for chuckets in volume 3 and a diary entry by Vincathaxis in volume 4. The panels shown here are from the excerpts from volume 1 - again, that's free, so you can check it out whenever you like. (Just to note, Amazon sometimes revert free books, but if you have a Kindle or the Kindle app, you can still download the ebook and send it to your Kindle - see here for instructions). Just a brief update to say that volume 4 has arrived at last, as illustrated by the bookwyrms (and Inric, of course). You can buy them from Sweatdrop Studios, but if you would rather have an ebook and/or don't fancy paying excessive postage, watch this space ;)
