When you come out of the grips of a depression, there is an incredible relief, but your mind doesn't allow you to celebrate. Instead, the feeling of victory is replaced with anxiety that it will happen again, and with shame and vulnerability when you see how your illness affected your family, your work, everything left untouched while you struggled to survive. We come back to life thinner, paler, weakerΒ β¦ but as survivors. Survivors who wake to their friends and family being exhausted from helping them fight a battle they may not even understand. Last year that was me. After my mom passed away, I saw the world in black and white and fell down a dark hole that only hospitalisation could help. Thankfully, I asked for help. Today with help I found my smile again and can see the vibrant colors peaking through the darkness. I know depression is not something that can be cured or go away overnight. It's been a lifelong fight for me and many others. My goal is to keep going so I can see shades of colors that I never knew existed. We all need to remove the stigma of mental health. It's not a bad or shameful issue. Please ask for help. Remember, no one can deal with everything alone. #mentalhealthawareness #depressionawareness #nobaddaze (at No Bad Daze Chattanooga) https://www.instagram.com/p/CYkTtm1JQZ6/?utm_medium=tumblr
