Their plans to meet change whan a snowstorm hit, and Cas has to save an unconscious Dean from his snow-covered car. After regaining consciousness, Dean shares his tragic past, his consequential PTSD and schizophrenia diagnoses, and his struggles ever since. Cas, at the encouragement of Dean, shares his fear of losing Claire because of his need to keep control of everyone around him.
Cas understands he has to forgive the past, and himself, in order to save his relationship with his daughter, while Dean has to accept that he is still worthy of care and empathy. These are challenging tasks, especially after Cas has a world rocking revelation.
