This is one of the first buildings where I consciencely thought about the architecture. As it has flashed by the car window every time we made a small trip to the ‘big’ city, that Aarschot then resembled in my mind. Although this was not the state I remembered it the most fondly in. The mystery of the barricaded old building crossing the river intrigued me at that time. This restoration kept most of this feeling intact. It is still quit a mysterious building crossing the river, confronted with new constructions at all sides (If we exclude the beguinage behind it that is not quite visible from the large road).
