I'm lost, and I can't figure out how to make this @#$# site work!
I don't understand why other people can reply to my posts, but I can't. And Naked Persimmon just asked a perfectly reasonable question about part 1 of the Female Characters essay, and I'd like to answer it, but I can't figure out how to do it!Â
Feeling really stupid right now. [sigh]
NP, you mentioned that there was a female character in Hitting the High Seas, a chirpy bit of Eye Candy who was having a moment with Peter in a fantasy sequence. Yes, that's true. There were women in the other no-female-character episodes, such as the female demons in The Devil and Peter Tork, or the female guests at the kidnapping rave in Your Friendly Neighborhood Kidnappers, or the female art patrons watching Liberace destroy a piano in Art, for Monkees' Sake. None of them were credited roles, so they didn't get counted.Â
It was tough, as I worked on the essay, to draw the line between memorable uncredited roles and forgettable credited roles.  I wondered, often, whether the difference between the two was a matter of how good one's agent was at negotiating.Â
