— ♡ how they propose.

it was late. it was only the two of you walking home after a long day—he had made a purposeful, saying he wants to spoil you for the day. took you shopping, got you anything you wanted, went to a small cafe—then a nice dinner he had reserved. now, you two were on your way home, walking hand in hand, his thumb caressing the top of your hand, brushing lazy circles against your skin as you talked about something random. he was…strangely quiet. too quiet—but you kept noticing small glances he was giving you. it was suspicious.
“why do you keep looking at me?” you giggled, finally asking, nudging him. “you keep staring.” he gave a short smile, squeezing your hand. “I can’t stare at what’s mine?” he said a grin pulling to his lips, seeing you roll your eyes—when the sound of fireworks went off, your head instantly turned to the sound, eyes instantly lighting up. “woah…these are so beautiful.” his eyes had soften, seeing the enjoyment sparkle through your eyes. your grip loosened from his hand to grab ahold of the railing, getting lost with the fireworks.
his heart sped up, pulling out a black box from his jacket. fiddling with it, with a nervous breath, he got on one knee, a soft smile placed on his face. “is this the big surprise you had for me?” you giggled turning around to face him, but your breath caught. he was down on one knee, with a box in his hand. “I’m not good with speeches, so i’ll keep it short.” he trailed. “since the day we got together—you taught me a lot of things about myself. how to love, how to care for others. you showed me that i’m more than the strongest—you treat me like i’m human, you don’t look at me differently. you mean the entire world to me sweetheart, and I don’t see myself with anyone else…so what i’m asking is would you—marry me?”

it was one of those rare, very slow mornings. where the outside world was still, quiet with the sun shining through the curtains, birds chirping outside and the smell of warm coffee. you were curled up against suguru, blanket wrapped between you both, his arm softly caressing your arm, trailing circles across it, half asleep with a cup coffee in your hand.
he watched you, his expression soft in a way only you could see, reaching out to brush a strand of hair out of your face. “y’know,” he murmured, trailing his hand to your cheek, “I could live like this forever.” you blinked at him, still heavy with sleep but gave him a half smile. “you complaining?” he chuckled, “not at all.” it was silent now, his eyes admiring you with softness, it was only a few seconds before you saw him reach for something. “what’s that?” you asked, seeing him pull out a black tiny box, holding it in his hand, sitting up now, you saw a smile tug to his face. “I know it’s not in front of a big audience—or in a fancy restaurant, but it’s enough for me.” you were confused now. “suguru what are you—“
“marry me?” the grip on your mug almost slipped from your hand, eyes widening, jaw dropping. he smiled faintly, expecting this kind of reaction from you, “I don’t need a big ceremony,—a big crowd, I just need…you, every morning like this, every night—hell everyday. there’s no one else I can imagine myself with, so stay with me—for the rest of it.”

it happened late at night. the quietness of the temple, the sound of heavy rain pouring, and the lights glowing up the garden as you sat and admired it. your ears had perked up to the sound of heavy footsteps creaking the wood underneath him, you looked up with a small smile patting the spot next to you, “join me?” you asked, his eyebrows furrowed, but with a small grumble he did it anyways.
you leaned a little towards him, practically resting on his bigger arm, going back to admire the garden. “isn’t it beautiful?” you felt his arm flex under you, his face flickering over the wet leaves and lateen lit trees, scoffing. “tch. i’ve seen better.” but the way his eyes lingered betrayed him. silence stretched for a bit, with the sound of rain hitting against the roof, before he spoke. “you always look at things like they’re the most precious thing in the world.” his voice cut through the sound of rain, low and rough, you tilted your head up glancing at him. “shouldn’t I?”Â
he didn’t answer right away, which was odd—matter a fact he was being extremely weird. the usual rough, uptight, and stern face he always had, was replaced with something more calmer. he still looked like himself, but you read his expressions like a book. his eyes stayed on the garden, but his jaw tightened. the lantern light caught on his rings and claws, gleaming like embers in the dark. “most people only see a curse,” he said at last, voice almost a growl. “a monster—someone who can terrorize a village in a snap of a finger. and you’re the only one who sits this close—stayed through it all”
your lips curved into a small smile. “well maybe I see more than they do.” you teased, he scoffs, but it lacked bite. his arm flexed beneath you again, then he shifted, and you noticed his other hand — clenched tight around something hidden in his palm. without warning, he opened it. it was a ring, dark metal with an edge of crimson glint, laying there, heavy against his scarred skin.
“I don’t do flowers. I don’t do speeches.” his tone was flat but steady, the rain filling in the pauses. “but I know what I want.” his crimson eyes finally flicked to yours, hard and burning. “I want you.” your breath caught, heart pounding against your chest. he held the ring out, still sitting upright, still himself, unpolished, but something raw peaked through.
“… stay. with me for eternity, sit by my side, become my queen.”

you’ve been poking at your food, rambling on and on about how much your co workers had pissed you off. said things like, “then they had the audacity to drop their shit onto my desk!” so on so fourth, the crease in your eyebrows, the small frown plasters on your voice as you rambled—he couldn’t help but have a soft grin tugged on his lips.Â
when you looked up from your half eaten plate, you paused your ranting, raising a brow. “what?” you asked, setting down your fork, he exhaled a short laugh, “nothin, just…seeing you get worked up is kinda cute.” you rolled your eyes, but didn’t ignore the way your heart jumped, a smile creeping to your lips. “you’re distracting me from my rant.” he raised his hands in defense with a short chuckle, “my bad my bad—go on.” and you did. as you continued your rant, he reached for something in his jacket.Â
you didn’t even notice at first— the tiny black box he pulled out, getting angry the more you told him about today. there was no build up, or interruption, just him sliding the box across the table. you didn’t notice it, until you seen the way he was looking at you. pausing. you’re staring again.” you teased, but the look on his face wasn’t the normal cocky look—it was full of love. “look down.” was all he said. you raised a brow, looking down, eyes going wide seeing a black box in front of you. “toji—“
when you looked back up, he already by your side on one knee. “yeah..” he smiled faintly, his hand grabbing ahold of yours,
“y’know I ain’t good at this stuff—saying my feelings, big speeches. but all I do know is, you’re it for me, you’re my person, though I don’t have a big speech to give—will ya marry me?”Â

it was late, but not the type of late that felt unbearably hushed. the city lights glowed, the cold hair brushing against your face, as you admired the view from above. you and kento just got done from having a dinner for your 3rd anniversary. he had knew you loved seeing the city lights, so after dinner was done, he took you to a quiet spot so you could see the city.
it warmed your heart that he remembered the littlest things about what you liked—seeing your bright smile was enough to make his day better. as your attention was on the city, he pulled out a velvet box from his pocket, hiding it in his hand walking towards you. when he slid an arm around your waist, you instantly melted into his tough, leaning on him. “isn’t it so pretty?” you asked, turning your head to look up at him who gave a smile back, nodding his head. “it is.”
the more he looks at you the more he felt myself fall in love all over again, he leaned in pecking the top of your head, mumbling. “i’ve been thinking.” his voice was low, but steady gaining your full attention now. “about?” you questioned, “about how much of my life I’ve spent working. counting hours, meetings, missions.” he gave a small, almost self-deprecating smile. “and then I realized the only time I stop counting is when I’m with you.” you blinked, taken off guard a bit. “kento—” you seen him get on one knee revealing the velvet box in his hand, he didn’t open it right away, he just held it in his palm like it weighed something important.
“I don’t want a grand gesture. I don’t want noise or spectacle. I want something real. every morning, every evening, every quiet moment like this one.” His gaze held yours, steady and warm. “I want you.” he opened the box, revealing a simple, elegant ring — no flash, no excess, just perfect.
“will you marry me?”
yuji i.
the evening was quiet as you and yuji walked the streets of tokyo. hand in hand, pointing out little things that interested you, could be neon lights, to strange buildings, to crowded bars you passed by. as you talked, he listened, humming or nodding in response. it was strange at first—because yuji loved to talk, he was the one talking while you were the one listening—but now? the roles were switched.
you didn’t wanna question it at first, but the more you guys walked the more it was eating you up. “hey..you okay?” you asked, turning your head to see he was already staring at you. with wide eyes, like he didn’t mean to get caught he swallowed. hard. “y-yeah! i’m just…thinking.” his voice was low, you raised a brow, tilting your head. “about what?” you guys stopped walking, now standing in front of him who avoided eye contact with you.
but you didn’t miss the faint blush on his ears. “just…stuff, important stuff.” you laughed softly, sensing the nervous energy radiating off him. “Important, huh?” yuji nodded, stepping closer, but stopping a foot away. he fidgeted a bit, fingers twisting together, and took a deep breath. “yeah… really important.” his gaze fell to the floor, then flicked up to you again. “I… I’ve been meaning to tell you something. something I should’ve said a lot sooner.” he chucked nervously, your heart skipping a beat. “okay…”
his heart kept racing, as he digged in his pocket to grab a small box, dropping to one knee. the motion was awkward, hesitant, but deliberate. he held out a small box, hands trembling slightly. “I… I love you. you’re… the person I want to be with. every day. no matter what happens. I want… I want to spend my life with you.” your breath caught, eyes wide. “yuji…” he opened the box, revealing a simple, but elegant ring. his crimson eyes met yours, soft and loving.
“I know I’m not perfect. I’m clumsy, I mess up… a lot. but I promise I’ll try my hardest, for you. i’ll try to be the best thing to ever happen to you…even the best husband to exist. so will… will you marry me?”

the world outside was quiet a hush, a soft breeze blowing against your face, standing at the edge of a cliff, the sea beneath you crashing into each other, the waves catching the pink and orange as the sun set. it was beautiful. megumi couldn’t help but let his guard down whenever he’s around you, the softness in eyes, the way his heart was pounding against his chest—it was making him nervous.
when he saw the way your face lit up at the colors and waves mixing together—he felt like he was falling in love all over again, when he seen you shiver from the cold, he was quick to grab a blanket from the basket, wrapping it around you, “its colder than I thought.” he frowned, his hand brushing against yours. when you looked at him, you seen his expression. just by reading his eyes, you could tell he was deep in thought. “megs, what’s up? you got a crease in you eyebrows.” you teased poking his forehead, who grumbled. “nothing—it’s just. i’ve been thinking.” he started, “about us, about everything we’ve been through to get here.”Â
your heart skipped a beat, watching as he pulled a black box from his pocket, fiddling with it. “I don’t say things easily, but. I can’t imagine my future without you in it—with someone else. I want it to be you, I want you. when we first met I didn’t think someone like me could have this. could have you. you were this bright, steady presence, and I… I kept my distance because I didn’t know how to hold something that mattered that much.” he swallowed hard, the smallest, rarest smile ghosting across his lips. “but you stayed. and you’ve changed everything.”
finally, he dropped to one knee, the black box opening to reveal a simple, elegant ring that glinted in the fading light. his hand trembled as he held it up to you. “I don’t know what the future will look like,” he admitted, voice thick with emotion,
“but I know I want to face every part of it with you. so…will you marry me?”
