Current hill I'm dying on: there's nothing hypocritical about Gabe Kidd (in kayfabe) talking shit about NJPW when they are no longer paying him and when they (hopefully only in kayfabe!) treated his friends badly. That is normal human behavior!
Gabe as a character discovered that his true loyalty was to specific people in NJPW, not the place, and once he faced the prospect of them being gone he realized that it now felt hollow. He feels like he gave NJPW everything he possibly could and didn't get loyalty back.
