Reflexes have the blonde jump at the sound of Midoriya’s voice, chopping down on the tonkatsu he was cutting a little more aggressively than necessary. Glancing over his shoulder, a part of him can’t help but wonder if the nerd had a sixth sense when it came to this food with how often he popped up when he was making it.

This was definitely not the first time someone had expressed the desire to pet Dark Shadow, honestly, he did not understand why everyone thought they were so cute. But he kind of had no say in it, he tried as much as he could to treat Dark Shadow as their own person. He would just appreciate it if people could start thinking the same way... But of course, they didn’t know about Dark Shadow’s past so he couldn’t quite blame them.

“Well, I’m sure Dark Shadow would appreciate it if their opinion was thought about too, they are their own—“ He stopped right there, not wanting to get into it too much to avoid giving away some precious information. “Long story, uhm...” He let Dark Shadow manifest themselves, let them get used to their surroundings before they faced Izuku with a happy face.

“That was really cool, mister! How’d you do that?”

     “ oh, midroiya! ”  kirishima looks up from the work in front of him on the table, disregarding it in favor of speaking with a friend. he even goes so far as to close his textbook so it wouldn’t even try to tempt him. there was a pressing question weighing on the boy’s mind, expression serious as the other approached him. it wasn’t until midoriya was directly in front of him did he flash a big smile.   “ what’cha gonna be for halloween this year? ”
