One of my favorite mundane ideas is undetectable chakra. Perfect for spies, even sensory ninja can’t detect someone’s presence through chakra, even with byakugan or sharingan.

Another mundane one could be tank, or as I like to call it, Ooblek, because slow, soft attacks go through you, fast ones just bounce right off. The ultimate defense if you ask me, but it’s not perfect because things can get stuck in you and you could get all messed up by water or earth style users when in soft state. (This gif is hilarious)

This one is pretty funny but it’s a constant chakra force field turning fire or lightening type users into a walking bug annihilator. What do I mean? I mean a thin layer of lightening style chakra that stays on at all times regardless of chakra reserve turns the user into a walking tazer or electric fly swatter, but the same can be applied to fire style chakra that burns things when it tries to touch you. Perfect defense against an Aburame, and maybe even poison since the chakra flow also happens internally.

Genjutsu immunity. Not much to explain, just the ability to detect and defend against genjutsu, no matter how powerful. This could also be further modified into genjutsu deflection, where if the user is casted into a genjutsu, they can deflect the genjutsu right back onto the caster. I don’t care that this was technically an ability of the rinnegan, the rinnegan was a mistake and nobody ever used it anyway.

Paint release. Sounds confusing, I know. But it’s very fun to think about, just imagine you’re an enemy Shinobi, and then all of a sudden, BAM! You and the battlefield are covered in colors. Now it’s not just regular old paint, oh no, it’s genjutsu paint. The paint heavily disorients those who lay eyes on it, and drains the chakra and energy of those who come into skin contact with it. Inspired by Rappa from Honkai starrail, I just love how colorful her animations are.
