T5W: Books without Romance
As an Asexual I love this topic as any book without romance are my favorite!
1. The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Barbery Muriel- translated from French and set in a fancy French apartment/condo high rise, it tells the story of a genius young girl and windowed concierge as they try to navigate life. Very philosophical but also a good story.
2. Eragon By Christopher Paolini- teenager finds a stone that turns out to be a dragon egg and is set on an adventure across the nation with the town story-teller to fight the empire. It is classified as a children’s book but really it’s a story for all ages. Hints of a crush but no romance.
3. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone by JK Rowling - 11year olds at a magical school trying to save wizard kind, they are more interested in their school work and sports to notice the opposite or even same sex.
4. The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls- one of my favorite book of all time. It is the story of a journalist growing up in a nomadic lifestyle. This only book that has ever made me cry. And if I say any more I will spoil it.
5. Nimonia by Noelle Steveson- supervillain-sidekick with magical powers that becomes the town hero. There are hints of a past romance but the story is about love and acceptance and to question everything.
