Whimbrel migration happens earlier in Spring when hundreds—if not thousands—of them fly across Lake Ontario on their way up north to their breeding grounds. This happens for a period of only a few days. . One photo I’ve always wanted to capture was a flock flying in front of the Toronto skyline. . Knowing the timing would be difficult to predict, I was so happy that I saw them fly by on my second attempt at the park. . It was only a flock of about 30 whimbrels but they flew in circles around the park and eventually made their way in front of the skyline! . It was a fruitful day to be able to capture these wonderful shorebirds. . Have you seen whimbrels before? .
