I started writing a next-gen fic once and...uh...it didn’t really work out. But it means I have a lot of stuff in my head for Primeval next-gen. You have been warned.

Nicola Rae

Is never actually called Nicola. Always Nikki. Her dad has a habit of calling her Nik

When she was little, Abby and Connor would tell her bed-time stories about incredibly brave people, one of whom she was named after, who were heroes that the world never knew about

She has Abby’s hair and Connor’s eyes

She takes after Abby more

Suffers from insomnia, like her mum. She hasn’t inherited any of her dad’s allergies, thank God

Loves her pets. Doesn’t quite understand that they’re not standard pets until she goes to school. She’s excellent with the creatures in general, and her head is Rex’s favourite perch

Uncle Becks secretly teaches her how to shoot and how to defend herself as soon as he can

The rebel child

Will torment her siblings no end but if you hurt them she will end you.

Secretly gets her ears pierced after Connor said no

When her parents says no to something, she asks Lester or Becker because she knows they’d give her the moon in a heartbeat if she wanted it

Cannot keep plants alive for love nor money. She likes succulents and cacti because she can ignore them and they’ll never die

Is still trying to pass her driver’s test, “I swear those post-boxes move.”

Thomas

Tommy Temple is partially deaf. He has hearing aids, and those help a bit. He’s working on his speech, but communicates mostly by sign language

Which of course means that now the whole team knows BSL

He hardly even signs when he’s with his twin sister. It’s like they can read each other’s minds

Starts tinkering about with his dad’s devices from a young age

Was once left unsupervised in the ops room and almost wrecked the ADD. Is now no longer allows in the ops room without a parent present

Takes pens apart and puts them back together all the time and at break-neck speed. Once tried to do the same to a gun, and Becker was suspended from babysitting

Has, unfortunately, inherited his dad’s hay fever and several of his allergies

He really likes picking up Sid for no reason and carrying him around the house

His favourite movie is Jurassic Park

The quiet child

He and his twin sister have separate rooms, but it is a regular occurrence for one of them to crawl into the other’s bed in the middle of the night

Tommy has fluffy brown hair, and neither of his parents know who he got that from

Sadie

The older twin

The prankster child

One of her favourite things to do at breakfast time is put butter on her brother’s hair instead of on her toast

Knows that if she acts younger than she is, strangers will be nicer to her, and uses this to get what she wants

Generally wilder than her twin brother

Can and will punch people for making fun of her brother

She takes after her dad more

Will not let anyone cut her hair

Like her dad, she picks up bits and pieces of how people speak. For a while, she had an Irish accent she just couldn’t shake

She’s that kid that will scream if you take her stuff off her and will not stop until you give it back

Has been known to randomly yell, “The floor is lava”
