Niki gently brushed a few curls away from your face before pressing a featherlight kiss to your forehead.
“Baby…”
You let out a sleepy hum, burrowing farther beneath the comforter.
“Y/N.”
“…Five more minutes.”
He chuckled quietly.
“You said that ten minutes ago.”
One eye cracked open to find him already showered, dressed in a black hoodie and gray sweatpants, silver necklace resting against his chest. His hair was slightly damp, and his carry-on sat neatly by the bedroom door.
You blinked.
“…Why do you already look airport cute?”
Niki grinned.
“Because unlike someone…”
He poked your cheek.
“…I actually got up when my alarm went off.”
You frowned dramatically.
“You’re bullying me before sunrise.”
“I am motivating you.”
“You literally called me lazy.”
“I implied it.”
You threw one of the pillows at him.
He caught it effortlessly.
“I hate you.”
“No, you don’t.”
“…No.”
He leaned down until his forehead rested against yours.
“You ready to go to Fiji?”
The second he said it…
Your eyes flew open.
“…FIJI!”
You practically launched yourself out of bed.
Niki laughed so hard he had to grab the dresser to steady himself.
“There she is.”
⸻
Your shared apartment became organized chaos.
Music played softly from your phone while you brushed your teeth, still half asleep.
Niki walked past the bathroom doorway carrying your suitcase.
“Did you pack sunscreen?”
“Yes.”
“Extra charger?”
“Yes.”
“Your passport?”
You froze.
“…”
He sighed dramatically.
“Please don’t tell me.”
You blinked twice before running toward the kitchen island.
“It’s right here!”
Holding it triumphantly above your head.
“I knew exactly where it was.”
Niki folded his arms.
“You were about to have a heart attack.”
“I was making sure it was still there.”
“Mhm.”
You narrowed your eyes.
“Stop judging me.”
“I’ve accepted this is our life.”
⸻
Forty-five minutes later…
You stood in front of the mirror applying lip gloss while Niki fixed the gold chain around your neck.
“You missed a spot.”
“Where?”
He gently wiped away a tiny bit of mascara beneath your eye with his thumb.
“There.”
“…Thank you.”
He smiled.
“You look beautiful.”
Your cheeks warmed immediately.
“You’ve literally seen me in pajamas.”
“And?”
“You’ve seen me looking like a gremlin.”
“My favorite gremlin.”
You laughed before wrapping your arms around his waist.
He kissed the top of your head.
“Ready?”
“Mhm.”
⸻
The airport…
…was absolute madness.
Announcements echoed through the terminal.
Suitcases rolled across polished floors.
Families rushed past.
Children cried.
Everyone seemed to be moving in every direction at once.
The second you stepped inside…
Niki instinctively reached for your hand.
His fingers intertwined with yours naturally.
“So many people…”
You looked around wide-eyed.
“I forgot airports were this stressful.”
He squeezed your hand.
“Stay close.”
You nodded.
As you walked through the crowd, people slowly began recognizing him.
Whispers.
Double takes.
Phones subtly coming out.
“Oh my God…that’s Ni-ki…”
“Enhypen?”
“Should we ask for a picture?”
Niki kept his expression polite but calm.
His grip on your hand tightened just enough for reassurance.
You stayed tucked beside him.
At one point someone accidentally bumped into you while rushing toward security.
Before you could even react—
Niki’s arm was already around your shoulders.
“You okay?”
“Mhm.”
“You sure?”
“I’m okay.”
He kissed the side of your head without thinking.
“You almost disappeared.”
“I am literally right here.”
“Exactly.”
He wasn’t taking chances.
⸻
Security finally finished.
You both grabbed coffees before making your way toward the first-class lounge.
The lounge felt like stepping into another world.
Quiet.
Soft lighting.
Fresh pastries.
Comfortable couches.
You practically melted into one.
“Oh my God…”
Niki laughed.
“You’ve already claimed your seat.”
“I live here now.”
“No you don’t.”
“I do until boarding.”
He sat beside you, handing over your caramel latte.
“Thank you.”
You leaned against him while waiting for your flight.
His hoodie smelled like fresh laundry mixed with his cologne.
Comfort.
Home.
⸻
Eventually…
Boarding began.
The flight attendant smiled warmly.
“Welcome aboard.”
The first-class cabin was breathtaking.
Private suites.
Sliding doors.
Large entertainment screens.
Storage everywhere.
And…
A seat that transformed into an actual bed.
Your jaw dropped.
“Niki…”
“What?”
“This isn’t first class.”
“It is.”
“This is an apartment.”
He laughed.
“I wanted our first vacation to be special.”
You looked at him.
“…You did this?”
He shrugged shyly.
“You deserve it.”
Your heart nearly exploded.
⸻
Once the plane reached cruising altitude…
The flight attendants transformed your seats into one large sleeping space.
Fresh blankets.
Soft pillows.
Dim lighting.
The cabin became incredibly quiet.
Rain sounds played softly through the speakers.
You changed into comfy clothes in the restroom before climbing underneath the blanket.
Niki followed a few minutes later wearing loose sweatpants and a white T-shirt.
You immediately opened your arms.
“C’mere.”
“As you wish.”
He climbed beside you.
Your legs tangled together naturally.
His arm wrapped around your waist.
Your head rested against his chest.
You could hear his heartbeat over the soft hum of the engines.
“So…”
“What?”
“We’re really going to Fiji.”
“Mhm.”
“No schedules.”
“No rehearsals.”
“No interviews.”
“No cameras.”
He smiled.
“Just us.”
You looked up at him.
“I missed this.”
“So did I.”
He kissed your forehead.
Then your nose.
Then your lips.
Slowly.
Softly.
Without rushing.
You smiled against the kiss.
“I love you.”
“I love you more.”
“You literally always say that.”
“Because it’s true.”
You laughed before snuggling even closer.
For the next several hours…
You watched movies.
Shared snacks.
Played games on the entertainment screen.
You fell asleep halfway through one movie, curled against his side.
Niki glanced down at you every so often, brushing your hair away whenever it fell over your face.
He couldn’t help smiling.
Moments like this reminded him why he worked so hard.
⸻
Nearly twelve hours later…
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have begun our descent into Nadi, Fiji…”
You stretched dramatically.
“I think I forgot how to walk.”
Niki laughed.
“We’ll figure it out.”
⸻
The warm island air hit your skin the second you stepped outside.
Palm trees swayed gently in the breeze.
Everything smelled like flowers and the ocean.
“It feels so different.”
You smiled.
“It smells like vacation.”
Niki wrapped an arm around your shoulders.
“It officially starts now.”
⸻
A luxury black SUV drove you through lush greenery until the resort came into view.
White villas.
Crystal-clear water.
Private beaches.
Infinity pools overlooking the ocean.
Your mouth literally fell open.
“…This is insane.”
He looked over proudly.
“You like it?”
“Like it?”
You stared at him.
“Niki.”
“This looks fake.”
⸻
The staff greeted you with flower leis around your necks.
“Bula! Welcome!”
Cold tropical drinks appeared in your hands before you even reached the lobby.
You laughed.
“I could get used to this.”
After checking in, someone escorted you to your private overwater villa.
The door opened.
Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked endless turquoise water.
A king-sized bed sat in the center of the room, draped in white linens.
There was a soaking tub facing the ocean.
A private deck with steps leading directly into the sea.
And waiting on the table…
A chilled bottle of champagne in an ice bucket.
Alongside chocolate-covered strawberries, fresh tropical fruit, and a handwritten welcome note.
You slowly turned toward Niki.
“…Did you plan all of this?”
He rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly looking shy.
“I wanted it to be perfect.”
Your eyes softened.
Without saying a word, you walked over and wrapped your arms tightly around him.
He hugged you back immediately.
“Thank you.”
He rested his chin on top of your head.
“For what?”
“For giving us this.”
He smiled into your hair.
“You’ve always been my favorite place.”
You looked up at him, heart full.
Outside, gentle waves lapped beneath the villa as the sun painted the Fijian sky in shades of gold and pink.
Neither of you rushed to unpack.
There would be plenty of time for adventures tomorrow.
For now…
It was just the two of you, standing in each other’s arms, thousands of miles from home, with nothing ahead but ocean, sunsets, and a week together.
