so sony released morbius at the beginning of april. its a movie about one of marvel's lesser known characters who is a vampire. it was supposed to be the start of sony's own cinematic universe, but it was kinda shit and also the main character was played by jared leto who is honestly kind of a meh actor on the best of days as far as i can tell.

so the movie, somewhat predictably, flops.

but then someone made a tweet poking fun of the movie "the best part of Morbius was when he said "IT'S MORBIN' TIME" and morbed all over those guys" referencing power rangers' catchphrase 'its morphin time' and it went viral

long story short, the internet did what it does and made it a meme. anything morbius or vampire related is now 'morbin'. no one cares about the plot of morbius or what actually might have happened. people started making compressed gifs of the movie that choked a couple folks' computers. everyone had a very fun time dunking on the admittedly kinda stupid concept of 'what if a vampire was a superhero and also was played by jared leto'

except sony, because they are capitalist profiteers hoping to make up for their massive flop, decided that 'hey the internet is memeing on us, that must mean we're popular!' and tried to rerelease the movie. it then proceeded to flop again because, it turns out, you dont have to watch the movie to get the jokes, and actually its kinda funnier if you dont watch the movie. plus, fuck sony's cinematic universe

Are you asking what Angelic Layer is? Because that’s the basis of the AU. 

In Angelic Layer, it is a fighting tournament style game. A player (known as a Deus) buys, crafts, and designs a controlled doll (called an Angel) and with a tele-link headset, the Angel is controlled by the Deus’ thoughts. They fight other angels in one on one fights to become a champion. 

So in an MLxAL Au, the Deus’ would be the civilians (Marinette, Adrien, Alya, etc) and the Angels would be their hero selves (Ladybug, Chat Noir, Rena Rouge). I haven’t thought much beyond that since I’ve only sketched up those three, though they have a little bit of a description to go with them.

Marinette: Rising Star. Marinette’s only link to Angelic Layer, until Alya moved to Paris, was designing and constructing outfits for her friends’ Angels. After designing for Alya’s Rena Rouge, Alya pushed Marinette into getting an Angel of her own and was surprised to find out that Marinette has a natural talent. While many Deus’ use glitches to exploit the game, Marinette can spot these exploits and find ways to turn the off, cutting off an Angel’s ability and giving Ladybug the victory. Ladybug is also known as Lady Metamorphosis because Marinette is constantly redesigning her outfits.

Adrien: Prince of Angelic Layer. When he entered AL, he went through great lengths to disguise himself from his disapproving father, so a lot of his popularity went to his Angel, Chat Noir. When he was finally in the upper ranks, he revealed himself and gained many more fans, which gave him leverage over his father who saw AL as a childish game. Many of his fans are fascinated by the difference in his gentlemanly appearance and his Angel’s wild nature, as he’s always smirking and taunting his opponent. The glitch he exploits lets out a shockwave, temporarily severing the link between Deus and Angel.
