you’re somewhere and it’s night and quiet and you’re alone

there are lots of other people here normally but not now

there are electric lights bright from inside empty buildings

and from streetlights

sharp shadows

there are buses or trains or cars that come and go. you’re on your way somewhere

you’re cold

you’re just one person and you don’t know what your life means

everything’s more real than usual

it’s big and wide and empty
