🎵🎵Don't you dare look out your window, darling.
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound🎵🎵
As a nurse in these times, my heart goes out to my fellow healthcare workers who are in the trenches right now. Being from a rural area, COVID is just now spreading down to So. IL. Luckily, my hospital has been doing their best to be prepared. We are managing our PPE, developed outpatient drive through testing, screening all employees for fever or symptoms, adjusting policies and procedures as rapidly as this situation changes, was able to transform our SDS area into a rule out COVID unit and positive COVID unit, back up plans for where to move those units if they hit capacity, etc., just to try to be a step ahead of this virus
As a shift supervisor, it is probably unlikely that I will have to go to those units to work, as I have my unit to care for but daily I am sending one of my nurses to the rule-out unit. Ive been putting on my brave face to support them and the stress they have, while trying not to break down or show my anxiety. It wears on you emotionally and physically. We will get through this. I cannot thank my fellow nurses, techs, drs, and especially my RTs that I work with. I am thankful that my hospital system is constantly preparing, meeting, sending updates from incident command, etc.
What is personally helping me debrief from work is listening to music, especially Taylor’s discography. Safe and Sound came on as I was driving home Monday morning and it brought me to tears as the second verse started and gave me a sense of peace in that moment with the lyrics right before the chorus:
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
So thank you Taylor for making music for us, for supporting and donating to swifties and organizations in need at this time. I am so proud to be one of your fans 💕💕
