i honestly don't have many thoughts on these two, my opinions and thoughts on them and their dynamic changes a lot, so none of its set in stone, but ill give it a try!

i'm basing this off the idea of a truce au

i think when they sit near eachother, or spend time with eachother in general, it would be very odd for them at first. i think it would be funny and strange and bittersweet to see the ways simple habits have changed, grown, or stayed the same in all that time

dream still counts on his fingers when he's bored. he no longers counts just to ten over and over though, as he used to, he now counts up until he gets bored.

dream for some reason makes an effort to keep his hands neatly together, fingers intertwined, while nightmare makes knots and shapes with his tentacles. he used to fiddle and twist his fingers a lot similarly.

both brothers notice these habits. both feel very bittersweet about it. they hope they can get comfortable with these new habits and have them feel as natural and normal to them as they did when they were younger, one day, soon hopefully.
