The wait is over (?) Max’s Nightmare Version is finally here \o/!
PERSONALITY:
On the outside he may seem serious, short spoken and downright intimidating (being 210 cm/around 6’10” tall without the ears), but on the inside he has a soft spot for human souls. He’s very kind to them and hates when they’re scared of him (especially the souls of children).
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Zoth: He’s his best friend and roommate (don’t ask how they became friends, no one knows).
- Yog: They don’t have a tight relationship but Yog visits their apartment a lot to see Zoth, so he’s a considered a friend.
- Quachil: He usually babysits them while Yog and Zoth are “together”.
- Yan Luo: He sees her almost like his boss, he gladly takes care of the souls that she brings death upon. As mentioned before, he’s in love with her, but doesn’t feel like he’s worthy of her (because she’s a princess).
- Xezbet: His greatest rival. Each time a human dies it becomes a competition to see which one of them finds the soul first. He does his best to not allow him to consume any souls.
- Dagda: Similar to Xezbet but in a lesser degree, as Dagda doesn’t actually destroy the souls, but scaring them goes against his principles of helping the souls get a peaceful rest.
BONUS:
- He speaks Nahuatl, Spanish and English fluently.
- In case it’s not legible, he’s a Xoloitzcuintle, which is a Mexican breed of dog that in Aztec mythology would guide souls to the Mictlán (the Underworld).
- He’s named after the Lovecraftian creatures, the Shoggoths (as all residents of the second floor seem to have Lovecraftian names), and the Aztec God of Death, Mitlantecuhtli.
- He mirrors Max in the way that Max is sworn to protect people, and he’s sworn to protect souls.
