I traced over one of the original storyboard panels from turtle temper. that nick posted and colored it. I actually think I like this panel more than how it came out in the episode in my opinion. I tried to color leo as well but he was kinda tiny.
BEHIND THE ART
“You’re really only limited by how much time you’re willing to put into it.” Creators Jay Howell and Jim Dirschberger on their creative philosophies and the road to making SANJAY AND CRAIG, now on Nickelodeon.
TMNT Rant and Rave
Seriously people.
Manage your expectations please.
So maybe the Vision Quest episode was not as prolific or as long as we hoped it was suppose to be. Or there are a lot of loopholes here and there in the show itself. But, please consider this:
There is only so much that can be covered in a span of 30 minutes (or less).
I had my share of rants about it. I admit there was a time when I facepalmed over some stuff that didn't go well in TMNT's story transition. Or there were elements that looked/sound forced/not necessary in the story/show.
But at the end of the day, I learned to accept that the people handling it (Ciro, Auman and the rest of the TMNT Nick Staff) wanted to try to tell a different story, throwing in lots of nostalgia pop culture reference that us older fans can relate to and have the new generations of fans to also be enticed to watch more. That entails a lot of pressure. They also got marketing commitments to do. They got to sell toys and all sorts of merchandising, and so they have to keep in mind the kind of scenarios they can integrate that marketing strategy into the story. Even if they may not be relevant to the main story. I mean look at SPEED DEMON and A FOOT TOO BIG. Did it contribute to the main storyline? No. But you know they will be coming out with toys and merchandise on those pretty soon. And it provided a small break to build up the main storyline eventually. Patience is key too.
And I know they know not everybody will like their take on TMNT. But they are trying their best, you guys. I know that kind of work they do. I have done that shit and it is a high pressure, losing your life kind of situation. If you (the producers/writers) do not deliver the ROI (return of investment) or at least deliver the high numbers or ratings that the studio requires of you to make annually, then the show will get cut off or dropped.
And yet here we are, bashing it mercilessly.
I'm just saying to some I chanced upon reading toxic reviews about the shows. Those who nitpick so much from the animation quality to the storyline. And even if we want them to change or add this character or it will be so much better if this is that, yada yada...Ciro and the crew may have something else in mind. And I am happy with what they are doing and contributing to the TMNT Universe. In fact, I am grateful, because of them, I wanted to try and relive my passion, I want to venture into the things that makes me happy because I knew to them, it makes them happy. If I were working in nickanimationstudio, and working on a show that brought me so much joy when I was a kid, I will put my heart and soul into it, 110%. Period. I owe my current happiness to them even just by watching it.
Guys just enjoy it, manage your expectations and just forgive the discrepancies of it all. When we were kids we just do that. Enjoy and relish that moment of excitement.
I LOVE THE SHOW, flaws and all.
