I was rewatching a bit of Blue Bird and I just realized (if I’m not mistaken) that these are the only occasions in which we see Jane running to chase someone (instead of away from someone he has pissed off) and it’s so interesting how different his posture is... in 6x08 he runs with good posture, spine straight, almost elegantly, while in 6x22 he looks clumsy, and even ends up hurting himself. And then there’s the clothes, in 6x08 he’s running like hell but he’s still impeccable in his three piece suit, while in 6x22 he’s all disheveled, his island shirt ending up untucked. As a whole, it’s like you can see by his posture and figure the difference in his emotional state: in 6x08 he seems controlled, focused, almost cold, while in 6x22 he’s emotional, anxious, vulnerable. I think it can be read from it that confessing his feelings for Lisbon was a much more difficult task than killing Red John. Maybe because his wish to kill Red John kind of represented a choice to not move on, the inability to do it, a way to avoid dealing with his pain on a deeper level, therefore something he was able to plan with patience and full conviction, while going after Lisbon represented the opposite, an unplanned, forced by circumstances, desperate choice to move on and start living again.
