#it feels v repo! & its... real good
To tell the truth, that was a minor influence of mine for this fic!
One of the biggest things I struggled with in this story was an excuse Soichiro could plausibly use to keep Ryuko away from the world while he figured out how to seal her Life Fibers away so her identity wouldn’t be found out. I considered situations like Tangled and The House of the Scorpion where the parental figures say it’s because the world is dangerous and cruel, but I felt in this case that there was far more narrative weight with the idea that there’s something wrong with Ryuko and that’s why she can’t go outside. After all, that’s the truth—because of Soichiro’s actions, she’s not a normal human anymore.
So I was really attracted to the idea of a “sickness” like in Repo! that kept Ryuko locked up, and thought there was a lot there to explore. I’m glad to see that others enjoyed it! Thank you for your kind comments on the story. I think Soichiro/Isshin is such an interesting character and that there is a lot there to look into—stuff like raising babies in secret, when and how he decided to seal away Ryuko’s Life Fibers, and just what exactly his relationship is with all members of his family, to name a few—and again, I’m just really glad to see that folks liked my own little exploration on aspects of it.
Kill la Kill prequel please?
