The hole that Quinn's death left never seemed to be filled.

They tried. Tossing new men into the guard like they'd be distracted, sending them on more and more missions. His gear was still on top of his bed in his room. Petey's room.

Nils tried really hard not to be lost. He saw how grief ran through everyone around him like the plague, striking them down one by one. He saw how the vitriol against the renegade group was taking it's toll on some of the others.

He knew them once. Knew them enough to know they weren't as bad as what was said.

But Quinn was still dead. And he wasn't coming back.
