Cage redo!

Never forget the time I made a joke about being careful when kissing your bird after feeding them jalapeños and someone snipped at me about maybe your shouldn't kiss your bird because mammal saliva is bad for them. Like I was making out with Holly and not just smooching the top of her beak.
I think I've decided when I move I'll go for a 40x30 cage for Merlin and a divided cage with 2 dividers for the ladies. That would be the same size Merlin has now, and 32x32 for each of the ladies (Cusita is currently in a 40x30 and Holly is in a 36x28). That's roomy enough I won't feel bad, and if I do want to upgrade I can remove the dividers to give Merlin a 64x32, give Holly the 40x30, and buy Cusita a new cage. Only drawback is the divided cage doesn't have a drawbridge style door, which I'd really prefer for Cusita, but also now that she's comfortable stepping up (and has figured out how to climb onto the floor, so can't be left to her own devices anyways) it's not as important as it was before.
It should run me less than $3k all said so not cheap by any means but hopefully something I can budget for.
And then I can also work on building an aviary or two that they can trade off between. So if I wanted to upgrade I could also do indoor aviary for Merlin, 64x32 for Cusita, and the 40x30 for Holly 🤔
The place that I bought stainless steel mesh from before has stopped selling it, and it was by FAR the most economical option, so DIY aviary has become more expensive. I'm considering using hex mesh for indoor aviaries, since it doesn't need to be predator proof, but I worry about sharp edges. Is that a concern with hex? I've never used it.
I opened the aviary to get Merlin this morning and he said "Hi, bud!" :')
