Iâll never understand why so many people are unwilling to believe that gay people are in fact completely gay!!!! I mean, obviously the answer here is that theyâre homophobic, but itâs still maddening sometimes.
Countless times Iâve experienced non-gay people trying to tell me, an actual homosexual person, what homosexuality is. This happens in so many different ways, but today it came in the form of a straight person lecturing me that no one is â100% gay.â I then defined what homosexuality is -- exclusive attraction to the same sex -- and was dogpiled by, yet again, non-gay people desperately wanting to push the idea that gay people are not â100% gay.â They told me that I was âfactually incorrect.âÂ
Iâm so tired of this idea that absolutely everything is a spectrum and that gay/lesbian people can have âexceptionsâ and that homosexuality is âold-fashionedâ or not âprogressiveâ and that gay/lesbian people canât have boundaries. Itâs super frustrating and nonsensical. If gay people donât have to be â100% gay,â then why have any words at all? What then can â100% gayâ people call themselves to differentiate themselves from the âgayâ people who arenât â100% gayâ? These words have simple definitions, and we have these words for a reason. You either are gay or you arenât -- there is no spectrum. If you have âexceptions,â then youâre not gay. There is nothing wrong with being attracted only to your same sex.
