@nexu101​: After all these years seeing Sengoku fiction constantly repeat the same tropes over and over, I’m already starting to doubt that there’d be anything new in creative media anytime soon, but I do continue to hope! 

Despite all the new research materials that has been publicized in the news in the last 5 or so years, sadly barely any of those ever seem to make it to the big/mainstream productions, probably for fear of audience backlash. Only someone with big money or big name power can afford to run wild takes in the mainstream, and hopefully more people with that capacity would be willing to support a new creative direction in the coming days.

I tend to find more interesting takes in novels, and sometimes stage plays, but unlike movies and dramas, nobody’s translating or providing subtitle for them. People are not going to be able to experience them unless they understand Japanese.

This is Nexu’s OC Umeko in a sort of art nouveau style. I’m actually pretty proud of myself with this. My only regret is I wish I had found a different color for the background; I fiddled with different gradient layer masks but never found something that really stuck with me.

But I’m proud of myself for

1) drawing someone without bangs

2) drawing someone facing the front

can't say that i've read papinot much, but turnbull and samurai-archives are both unreliable sources in my experience, and yours too i'm sure : (( interesting theory tho

The Samurai Archives wiki is really bad, but the forums are somewhat useful for asking for info or source texts. It just depends on who’s talking. Some of the members do have history credentials, but I don’t know if they’re still active.

Yes! In Gunshi Kanbei, Mitsuhide was responsible for hosting Ieyasu and arranging the banquet. When Nobunaga eats the food, he calls it bland. Mitsuhide says it was seasoned lightly in accordance with "Kyoto-style." Nobunaga throws that food at him and asks him to prepare it to suit Ieyasu's tastes. Poor Ieyasu intervenes and says he likes it. Definitely would be fun to look into this!

I suppose it's not quite the same as Nobunaga serving it himself, but Nobunaga did remove Mitsuhide from caring for Ieyasu in Gunshi Kanbei, perhaps with the implication he would do it himself.

Ah, alright, so what you meant was the part where Mitsuhide’s service is considered “poor”. Mitsuhide being removed from his role to "take care” of Ieyasu is all part of the classic story. I guess the scene of Nobunaga personally taking over the service is just artistic liberty.

Ahh a similar scene was in Gunshi Kanbei. More reason for me to watch the naotora drama
