The liquid in his glass tube bubbled, popping every once in a while, the sharp noise breaking up the silence. The lull of the lab was calming, smell of chemicals and a chill down his spine. Lucas stared down at his notes.

"Newt?"

Humming, the man peeked from around his table, pen tangled in his shirt. "Lucas?"

Smiling, he pushed his goggles down. "I wanted to see what you have so far."

"Oh!", Newt fiddled with his papers, walking right beside him. He rested his head on Lucas' shoulder, gingerly, carefully. "These are the notes I have so far. Not sure if my writing is that legible."

Letting himself lean back into his chest, Lucas traced the words with his fingers, squinting. His writing wasn't the best. It gave his own a run for it's money. Newt maneuvering around him, fiddling with the stove, adjusting the heat to form new reactions. He was drifting away.

The popping noises quieted as he kept reading, the warmth of Newt's body blending with his own. Setting the paper down, Lucas gave Newt a kiss on his cheek. His goggles stuck against his neck, digging into his collarbones. He left another one for good luck before shooing Newt away.
