“Girl what happened to you?”

What changed?

Just you?”

“You stopped going out?”

“Stopped drinking?”

“The lot?”

“You changed up your ways man,”

“Did you lose the plot?”

“Where you been all this time?”

“Were you lost?”

“Cus we couldn’t find you nowhere..”

“What is it now that you got?”

“Your mouth has changed”

“You don’t swear no more?”

“You’re acting all clean”

“Like you know what for?”

“You’re dressed up heels...?”

“And your boxes of fags?”

They’re all down the drain

I don’t need them,

They’re in the past,

“But you gotta be tripping?”

“How you change up so fast?”

“I heard you got married?”

“Is that some kinda act?”

No I found love,

A greater love than I,

I found something deeper

Than partying

And forgetting myself in midnight skies,

I stopped all the drink,

And I stopped all the drugs,

I stopped all the days;

Wanting to die in the tub,

I washed myself clean,

I bathed in new waters,

I came out alive

Into new living quarters,

See I’m not the same now

As I was before,

So you can’t hurt me like you did then

Relationship opens the door for us to be in heaven with Jesus. Not a set of ritualistic behavior, nor a magic chant. 

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”. The way to heaven is not by doing good works or by being the most morally upright person but it is through a friendship with Jesus. It is through being with Jesus that changes us from the inside out. People say that they don’t feel worthy to be in christian community or they feel that they need to ‘get their act together’ before being friends with Jesus but that’s not possible, because we can’t ever get clean without Jesus’ help and it is foolish to think that we could ever fix ourselves on our own. 

For example, if your car was broken, it would be hard for those of us to fix it if we do not have knowledge of the way the car was meant to function, or if we had no idea about the way the inner parts of the car worked. However, we can bring our car to the mechanic, who knows how the car is supposed to function and he knows how to tweak the innermost parts of the car to make them work right again. As you probably would’ve already guessed, the car is a metaphor for our lives and the mechanic is a symbol of Jesus Christ. Only Jesus knows the will of our Father in Heaven; He knows us intimately and he is more than able to fix our mess and guide us to fulfil His father’s will. Thus, just like how we turn to the mechanic to fix us, we need to turn to Jesus for help and guidance in life. 

Essentially, the way to God and to heaven is through a friendship with Jesus. Think about a close relationship or friendship you’ve had before. Don’t you find that the more time you spend with this person, the more you begin to talk like them, adopt their habits and even their fashion? Similarly, the more we hang out with Jesus, the more we become like him - holy, loving, kind, patient, able to control oneself, joyful, full of peace etc. (Gal 5:22-23). Christianity is not merely a religion, it is a relationship with an irresistible Lover, Jesus and His ever-loving Father. 

Have you spent time hanging out with Jesus today? Have you given Him permission to change you from the inside out? Have you acknowledged that He is in charge over your life? 

  Why is all of this bad stuff happening to me. When paul spoke about the old has passed the new has come. Yeah i read that but honestly I don’t FEEL any different. I still have the same job, I’m still financial broke. Im still tempted to watch porn, and i still am lying. Yeah i know thats what Paul wrote but is this really whats taken place? I’m still well ME..

 Here are 3 things you can do as a new believer to help you stay on the right path.

1.See it coming, so you never end up running. “In this world there will be trials and tribulations, but take heart i have overcome the world. (john 16:33) If you spend 15 mins every day in the morning with God, 5 mins praying, 5 mins reading the word, and 5 mins listening to worship, your gonna be prepared because you met God that day, before the world met you. You’ll be more prepared for whats to come.

2.See it through, cause you have no idea what God is going to do. Maybe you’ve lost your job, maybe you marriage isn’t what you expected it to be, Maybe your co-workers are pulling you away from God, Dont give up, God is working in you so that he can work through you!  Remember no matter what curve ball the world throws at you one thing will never change and that is our God is faithful. If you lost your Job, "my God is working even when i cannot see, he is my Ephesians 3:23”  If your marriage is crumbling down, take your eyes off the mountain and start focusing on the mountain mover. But don’t give up you have to see it through, because you have no idea what God is gonna do. In todays world we focus so much of our energy and resourceful time on whats mine, my I-phone my I-pad, my Job, My church, my money. We often don’t even involve God in the equation until after we feel like all hells broke loose. The term christian means CHRIST-IN-ME. If you remember to 1. see it coming, so that you never end up running, and 2. see it through cause you have no idea what Gods gonna do, you be ready for 3.

3.Shake it off, so you can keep on saying, BRING IT ON.

Often times Christians when thrown in the fire just sit there. They feel like theres no escaping this. Have you ever messed up so bad you just thought, I’m going to have to move and change my last name and never talk to anyone i know ever again.That would be exhibit A (me). 

We often don’t see the future, we focus on the past regret and the present outcome. But the word of God says, "I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

the enemy would want nothing more than to discourage you, and rob you of your joy you can have with God. Jeremiah over 30 times talks about how the lord will protect you. here are some examples.

Jeremiah 1:8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD. Jeremiah 1:19 They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD. Jeremiah 15:21 "I will save you from the hands of the wicked and deliver you from the grasp of the cruel.”

Now that your a Christian. (CHRIST-IN-ME) You can stand firm in this new exciting life and Relationship with Jesus Christ. And when challenges an troubles come your way, you'll know just how to handle them. Greater is he who is in you, than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4 Remember those three points.
