River Coe in Glencoe by Alan Irons Via Flickr: I got my feet wet for this one, the shot was taken along the A82 at the bottom of the Aonach Eagach Ridge, very close to the source of the River Coe. We are so lucky to have such wonderful places within our shores.

You get up here via the Nevis Range cablecar. If the views aren't dramatic enough for you, you can watch mountain bikers with nerves of steel throw themselves down the rocky track below.
When I was a child, the Scottish mountains didn't have cablecars or mountain railways. I fondly remember riding up Cairngorm on dangling park benches, with only an unsecured metal bar between us and the heather below.
They still have them up here for the skiers. I'd love to have a go, for old times' sake, but they're closed for the summer.

MOURNING BECOMES CARN MORN DEARG The city of Fort William and the Nevis Range asked me to create an installation that shows the effects of climate change. Scotland is on the same latitude as Alaska, therefore it might be more futuristic than you would think. On the beautiful mountain Carn Morn Dearg we build and exposed an old rusty ski-lift. I really liked working with the authentic elements in an artificial context. For me it has a very sinister feeling, like a cemetery. It has a certain desperation in it. I think a lot of people feel that way about the health of our planet.
