love love love how nevermoor doesnāt present motherhood in a way that is so common amongst other media (like fuckin harry potter). i mean there are good mothers and motherly characters in the series (catriona, miss cherry, brilliance), but they donāt loose their personalities just because they are in motherly roles (khmm nymphadora tonks).
nevermoor doesnāt glaze motherhood like after your child was born, your only purpose of being is to take care of them.
and the most important thing, we get a variety of mothers and mother figures. not just a bad-good spectrum of them, but character who actually have conflicts and dilemmas from being a mother (figure). (actually, canāt wait to know more about the relationship between brilliance and ezra, and especially how she felt after ezra had betrayed her). and itās so refreshing to see that after tons of boring and bad representations.
and i just love meredithās character. i was so afraid that townsend would make her another boring dead mother cliche (like lily potter), with little to no personality, just the ideal mom morrigan has never had. and thank god that she didnāt turn into that, i shouldāve had more faith in the writer. sheās a character on her own, chaotic and morally ambiguous, and sheās a feral animal and i love love love that.
anyway, i just wanted to yap about meredith, silverborn was a dream come true
