Really Cupid? -- A real text conversation with a guy I am going on a second date with.
We're going to Urban Craft Uprising, which is a funky craft fair here in Seattle.
Me: I can buy my friend her birthday present!
Him: Yay for multitasking.
Me: Let's meet at Zinzaro to get coffee then head over. I love craft fairs!
Him: What do you like about them?
What I Want to Say: Mostly...the...crafts
What I'll Probably Say: I think they're fun.
I have a first date in an hour
But all I want to do is put on my sweatpants. Instead I'm going to go put on makeup.
This is guy #6, if you're counting.
Dates with guys #7, #8, and #9 are scheduled. *head desk* I'm done for a while after 9, I think.
This fic isn't going to write itself! (Although...that'd be cool.)
Am I Being Too Picky if I Notice That...
Someone says they are looking for a romantic partner they can have 'intellectual conversations' with but they misspell the word 'intellectual'?

i'd be lying if i said i didn't laugh so hard that i cried a little at this. (if you move to canada, i'll set you up with my bf's hot older brother who is your age. *waves bait at you* canadaaaaa)
Better online dating interactions tonight. Although last night I was literally crying while asking myself -- "Why are guys so awful!?!?"
Tonight, though, a guy sent me a long message that made me laugh very hard. I had mentioned that one of my possessions I would not live without is my purple blanket. He messaged me with a description of his favorite blanket, how he acquired it, and used it as a metaphor for why we are compatible. His message concludes thus:
"And now I appeal to your charitable sense of blankethood, having seen that you, too, have a blanket in your life, and a handsome purple one at that! Please consider letting your blanket out for an afternoon with mine, just to see if they even like each other. Mine is well behaved and housebroken. You and I can chaperone."
Based on some of the other aspects of our profile, I don't know if we're compatible, but it'll be fun finding out!

Really Cupid? -- Part Two
Today will not go down as a good day in the annals of dating history. A lot of bad and ugly with very little good.
The Bad: Wizard6969 (classy) and I have a 52% compatibility and he wrote that he wants to "here from u."
The Bad: I got a 'what is a girl like you doing in a place like this' except OKCupid style: "what is a beautiful girl like you doing on OKCupid." Which translated in my head to "You're so pretty! How did you stoop to this level?" Excuse me buddy, we're on the SAME LEVEL.
I'm just exhausted by the thought of this tonight. In the words of Sharpay Evans:
This is not what I want This is not what I planned And I just gotta say I do not understand
Really, Cupid? -- Part One
So, I decided to try this online dating thing via the free dating site, "Ok Cupid."
I will be using the tag "never dates" to chronicle this journey for the following reasons: 1) it follows my username, which I like, 2) It is a type of ironic comedy I enjoy, and 3) after this experience, it may be prophetic.
I have committed to going on seven first dates before recommitting myself to spinsterhood.
If you do not want to hear what shall likely be some ridiculous dating whatever, feel free to block the above mentioned tag.
The Good: One gentleman I share a 82% compatibility with sent me a short message asking me how I was doing and if I would be interested in meeting up for a drink this week. Kind, direct, I replied yes. We're meeting on Thursday.
The Bad: One boy I share an 80% compatibility with sent me a link to a YouTube video for a rap song called "Let Me Smang It." According to Urban Dictionary, this is "a combination of smash and bang as a verb, to describe sex or the motion of sex." Really, cupid? Because, YES, the thing that is going to make me feel safe and inclined to want to be on a date with you is you sending me, before you even say the word HELLO, a video that tells me you think I'm bangable.
