Night had descended on the Zone and Arthur had been asleep for sometime when Alpha woke him up. The Batter sat up and mumbled groggily as he looked about the room him and Elene were currently staying in while they were in Zone 1. He questioningly and somewhat irritably at the dimly glowing Add-on who hovered not too far away from him. This wasn't an urgent, danger near by wake up but something else. Alpha hummed and Arthur stared at him for a few brief moments before sighing and standing up. There was someone outside apparently, human apparently from what Alpha said. While normally he would ignore any other visitor while he was sleeping he couldn't do that with this one. Anyone with their own file could handle themselves against whatever was just in the first Zone, but a Human, a Player, might be so lucky. Best to get up and usher this person into safety if need be.

Arthur quickly got dressed and left to follow after this person. It was dark out but he could see just fine, barely needing Alpha's light to guide him. It didn't take him long to spot this visitor as it hadn't been long since they passed by the residence they had been at.

We were running errands one day when his mom called.

It was his sister’s birthday the next day and they were discussing where to go for dinner. His mom heard me next to him and I guess she asked if I wanted to join.

Once he got off the phone, he asked me and we talked about it for a little bit.. His mom’s not a very friendly person.. She’s bad with the 애정표현 like he is.. 성격상 그런건지 아님 이혼하셔서 그런건지.. so he was worried about the impression that I’d make.. granted he’s never seen the work side of me~ only the silly, goofy, friend side..

I’ve always been good with moms.. They like me cuz I’m good 며느리 material with the 살림 and the cooking and all around awesomeness ㅋㅋㅋ So I was mostly okay with going, but he was a bit worried and we never really agreed on whether or not I would go..

That night his sister called while we were in the middle of something and kept asking him to bring me to dinner.. We were hardcore in the middle of a game so he just 대충대충 넘어갔어 and was like

“에이.. 가족행산데 왜 가!”

He’s like me and that’s just the way we talk~ 좋아도 싫은듯.. 그런 거 있잖아.. I knew he wasn’t saying it cuz he didn’t want me there or anything but I figured that was that and thought I wasn’t going.

The next day we were making plans to go out for lunch and he brought it up again, asking if I wanted to go.

We both agreed that it was kinda early to “meet the parents".. I guess “meet the fam” is more appropriate since it was his sister too and his dad’s not in his life..hence the title..

Honestly I’d been anxious to meet his mom, but I was a bit hesitant since I had heard from him how 차가워 she was.. 

“I dunno.. it’s up to you~ if you want me there I’ll go”

“가자~”

“ugh~~~ fine”

ㅋㅋㅋ

Went to meet him for lunch n then came back to change cuz he had to stop by work anyway.. Then went to meet him at his work so we could head over together..

I wore my best “casually dressy” outfit with simple earrings and a floating diamond necklace.. Didn’t wanna be too flashy but also wanted to subtly hint with a few luxuries cuz I know his mom loves 명품s -_-

All dolled up and then it turns out his sister has to work late and may have to cancel dinner.

Half relieved and half 아쉬워, I chilled on a beer while he finished his work..

After an hour or so we figured it was canceled so we were gonna go to his sister’s work to give her the cake I got her (figured cake was better than a present given the situation) and maybe some dinner for her and her coworkers, but then turns out the dinner’s back on!

CRAP!

Shouldn’t have had that beer ㅠㅠ

We headed over to the hotel.. Went to the bathroom to freshen up before walking in.. he said they probably wouldn’t be there yet so I still had some time to calm down and relax.

We followed the hostess to be seated by the bar (sushi bar.. which was AMAZING btw) when it turns out they’re both already sitting there.

AHHHHHH~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Luckily, since it was bar seating, we didn’t have to face each other while sitting.. That would’ve been (even more) awkward ㅋㅋ

We 인사해 and sit down and they talk for a bit.. His sister asked a few questions like how long we’ve been dating for and

“오빠가 잘해줘요?”

“음.. 반반? ㅋㅋㅋ 잘해주면서 좀 짗궂어요”

“오빠가 그러긴해요~ ㅎㅎ”

His mom asked how we met and what I do for a living.. No family questions which I’m glad cuz that makes things more serious.. Plus, she’d probably rather not talk about family anyway..

Then they were talking about his current job and how long he plans on staying there.. His mom invested in some company and wanted him to run things in Cambodia? Singapore? somewhere.. in SE Asia... but of course he would never...

“돈이 중요한게 아니라 좋은 경험이라서 일하는거지”

“그런게 어딨어”

And then she asks me

“S가 거기서 일하는거에 대해 어떻게 생각해?”

I was so caught off guard..

*nervous laughter*

“음.. 나중에 하고 싶은 일을 위해서는 좋은 경험인 것 같아요“

As dinner wrapped up, we were discussing where to do the cake... Maybe go to a coffee shop or something..

커피숍 가면 you can’t really bust out a separate cake and celebrate there, you know? So after we left the restaurant, I gave the cake to S and told him he should go home to have family time and celebrate. His mom said,

“커피라도 같이 마시고 가지”

“아니에요~ 전 괜찮아요~”

I explained to his sister about the number of candles.. She’s 26 but I had gotten 3 big sticks and 6 small ones, cuz I always get one extra big one for luck... and then he walked me out to catch me a cab.

“잘가요~”

“만나서 반가웠어요~”

I went back to his place to walk his dog and then chilled for a bit there til he came home around 12..

Asked him what they said about me but he said they didn’t say much.. 앉아 있을땐 좀 살쪄 보였는데 일어났더니 키 크고 다리도 날씬하다고 했대나 어쨌때나.. And that his sister is envious of my height and that 만나본 여자친구 중에는 내가 제일 낫다고.. but to his credit, his track record isn’t too great haha

Hung out for a bit and then on my way home, as he walked me out to catch a cab, he said,

“오늘 예쁘게 잘했어요~” *kiss*

ㅎㅎㅎ

Bottom line, I didn’t make the best impression, but not the worst impression, either.. Which I actually see as a good thing, cuz if 처음부터 너무 좋아하면, you’re bound to disappoint, but If I’m somewhere in the neutral, middle territory, I have room to grow and I’ll only impress :)

I think I did good in just having dinner and 빠져ing so they could have family time.. I know his mom and sister probably appreciated that cuz they haven’t spent much time together, especially since we started going out, and it showed that I’m 센스있어 and know when to 적당히 빠져.. Plus, I totally nailed it with the cake ㅋㅋ S had told me to just get one cupcake or something, cuz his family doesn’t really eat cake, so I got a few 조각 cakes of different tastes.. I was gonna get 4, but since he said just get one, I figured I’d get 3.. 고민고민하다 I got a tiramisu, strawberry crepe, and lemon tart.. Turns out that was perfect cuz his sister liked the tiramisu, his mom liked the strawberry crepe, and he liked the lemon tart. AWESOME ㅋㅋ

It was cool finally meeting his family.. It further reinforced the thought I had of fitting him into MY family.. And he’s said that before.. That he’d chill with my dad drinking soju and watching TV.. they both love soju and watch the same programs haha it’s kinda weird.. and he would totally get along w/ my sister too... It’s cool but kinda alarming how much he’d fit into my family..

In terms of his family... His mom’s all about the money, which S and I HATE... His younger uncle is apparently married to one of 이건희’s daughters.. So total Samsung line power family... And his older uncle is also 재벌...

S and I are similar in that we’re not gonna work anywhere just for the money.. I turned down a job working for Samsung cuz I hate it and everything it stands for.. We’re both more “support the small businesses” type, and we both wanna do something that we love doing..

Ultimately, he wants to have his own chill bar where he can make whatever food he’s 꽃혔어 in.. And lately I’ve been thinking that I want my own snack shop type place where I could make sandwiches and hot dogs and just.. food that I like..

The other day we were drinking wine outside my house and talking, and he suggested we go into business together..

We’ve talked about it before.. He handles the alcohol/craft beer side and I handle the food.. but it was mostly just running ideas and nothing was ever set in stone, but this time it was a bit more serious cuz I had finally told him about how I was thinking I wanted a snack shop... My parents ran a snack shop in the states after they left the music industry and it’d be cool if I sorta picked up after it, you know?

But everyone I talked to said don’t do it unless you guys are married.. things could get messy... blah blah.. which is true.. so again, I’m hesitant..

Not gonna jump the gun, but it’d be cool if that’s what we ultimately end up doing...

Crap... Just realized my birthday’s in two weeks.. Is it my turn to invite him to meet my fam?
