📡 What to Do If Your AOC Cable Fails? Fix It in 3 Steps!
If an AOC (Active Optical Cable) in your data center (10G/25G/100G/400G) happens to fail, don’t panic 👇
🔍 Troubleshoot First:
1️⃣ Check logs & DDM data – Low received optical power indicates a fiber path issue
2️⃣ Clean the fiber end face + re-plug – Most “unrecognized” errors are caused by dirt
3️⃣ Cross-test – If it still doesn’t work after switching to a known-good port/device, the cable is dead
⚡ Then Replace:
Traditional full replacement: 10–20 minutes; suitable for non-urgent situations
Dismountable AOC (Recommended): Replace only the module—no need to disconnect the cable! Restored in 2 minutes
💡 Tip: Keep 5–10% spare cables on hand; clean the fiber ends every six months; label and log faulty cables.
