Throwback to this old post. . . Eventually St George's house (aka the Nestlé tower) will be a residential development. I remember the developer asking for suggestions about what to do with the ground level space. . . What would you like to see the former Blue Orchid night club, Heroes bar and Nestlé reception/exhibition space become? . . We think it could become a street art and graffiti museum chronicling the history and culture of these two art forms around the world and its history in Croydon with studio space for regular art workshops. . At the Femme Fierce event it was interesting to meet two local artists who told me about their work in the 80s and all the big artists who've come out of our area. I'm not sure people would expect such a venue in Croydon which would be great in the mission to change opinions of the area and create new opportunities. . . An addition to what I wrote above would have been great to have seen this former glass fronted foyer left as it is with it becoming a permanent art centre in the vein of Croydon Art Store.
