no romo fest: what does aromanticism mean to you?
to me, aromanticism is an ideology as much as it is an orientation. i believe the distinction between romantic and platonic is a social construct the same way gender is— which is to say it's absolutely important to a lot of people, and that's cool & valid, but i just don't really wanna participate in it myself.
in that sense, it's a rejection of romance, of amatonormativity, of monogamy, of traditional relationships in general. for me it's entirely entwined with non-monogamy & relationship anarchy, they all overlap & convey similar ideas.
my aromanticism isn't just "i don't experience romantic attraction," but also "why does it matter so much whether or not i do?"
