for the ask game: 1, 5 and 24 😊
Ahh thank you so much! For the fanfic end-of-year asks:
favorite fic you wrote this year
ahhh I don't want to pick! I don't want to just keep saying Not Shy of Fatal for everything, even though it's true (because the jet-fueled burn-to-husk high in which @wrenfemme and I wrote it is something I dream of recapturing every day), so I will instead pick Drawing Lines, which gets honorable mention for involving some really juicy tropes that I don't play with all that much!
5. most popular fic this year
Well, this one is NSOF, by every metric. For once, I agree with the taste of the readers!
24. favorite fic you read this year
As I said in a previous ask, I've been blessed this year with the incredible privilege of glutting myself on so much fic for a new fandom, so it's impossible to pick here! I'll give a short list of a few favorites instead:
I'm currently being absolutely wrecked by To Shed Old Hides by @starsforscales; it's been a long time since a fic did something like this to me. Every week I am crying!! Actual tears!!
@mariamegale's Dreams of a tomorrow series (and all of her work) is absolutely iconic and regularly quoted around @thevillainsmustache's and my apartment
yea, I burn forsooth by littlelansky HAS to be mentioned here because it's the fic that, when VM sent it to me, sent me spiraling helplessly down the rabbit hole to begin with. I have a soft spot for vaccine-related sickfic, and this one is just. mmm.
speaking of sickfic, imitosis by mrcogito is one of the most comforting things I've read in a long time and I love it so so much! (Also it introduced me to Andrew Bird's Armchair Apocrypha album and is the reason for all the titles in Heretics...)
And I really love Qui Non Proficit, Deficit by RedBlackandBold for some mad scientist Daniil reaping the consequences of his actions.
And there are SO many more, but I can't list all of them here, so these are some highlights!
