I think shipping Nep with Gamzee would make for the blackest romance she could ever have. I've written before, an AU where Nepeta lives the attack that originally killed her, and instead of Terezi, she is the one to hunt for Gamzee in the meteor.
She's obsessed with capturing and hurting Gamzee to an unhealthy degree that concerns everyone else.
The other trolls keep trying to approach her, to get her to let go and to do stuff with them instead. They miss how she used to be; silly and loving to her friends. But she inevitably shakes off all their attempts.
She just can't let go of the hunt.
