Meetra’s mother was a Jedi, a fact that Meetra was never told due to the Order’s strict policies surrounding attachment. It’s the reason that her Force sensitivity was discovered at such a young age (technically before her birth) and the reason that she was raised almost entirely among the remote enclave on Dantooine. Meetra’s mother was forbidden from knowing anything about her, just as those who were aware of the situation were forbidden from telling Meetra anything about her lineage. While there were initially concerns that the pair would eventually meet and sense their connection through the Force, Meetra’s mother ultimately left the Order. This eased the Jedi’s fears, though it also diminished the chances that Meetra would ever find a biological relative.

As a child, Meetra was told that she was an orphan from a colony along the Outer Rim. This only made things more difficult when her age mates (who had been brought to the Jedi Order as older children) would whisper things about their families and home worlds. While Meetra knew that a lack of attachment to her past technically made her a better Jedi, it still hurt to realize that she never had the opportunity to call someone ‘mom’ or ‘dad.’

After Malachor V, Meetra’s lack of connections beyond the Jedi Order became more painful. If she was someone like Bastila or Atton, she would have been able to locate her biological family or at least return to her home planet and start a new life. But there were no records of where she was from and to the best of her knowledge all of her blood relations were dead. Meetra had nothing beyond being a Jedi, not even a planet to call home. Because of this her first few years as an exile were particularly challenging. She had lost her best friends, her surrogate family, and her connection to the Force. She was completely adrift. During those long, hard nights wandering the edges of known space she often cried herself to sleep wishing desperately that she had a mother or father to turn to, someone who could tell her that it would be alright.

Somewhere distant, Meetra’s mother had no idea just how much her daughter was suffering.

Most people (including the Jedi Masters) assume that Revan and Alek (later Malak) were the troublemakers and Meetra was usually along for the ride. This couldn’t be further from the truth, but it was a reputation that Meetra never corrected. She actually met the people who would become Revan and Malak when they were teenage Padawans and she was still an Initiate. The pair had been sent to Dantooine for “additional extended studies” (the Coruscanti Masters’ subtle code for “let someone else deal with their antics for a few months”), when they found themselves being followed by a small blonde shadow. At first they found her annoying, at least until she showed them how to sneak out of the Dantooine enclave and into the local town.

Meetra didn’t spend much time on Coruscant, though she did go there to study for about six months during the later parts of her training, a few years before the Revanchists entered the war. By that point Revan was a Knight and Alek was close to becoming one. In return for years of helping the older Jedi sneak around Dantooine, she expected to be shown the same “hospitality.” The resulting chaos usually ended with Revan sighing out an excuse to the Masters, Alek shielding his face to hide both embarrassment and laughter, and Meetra smiling beatifically as if she was in no way the catalyst for everything that transpired.

When Alek recruited Meetra as a Revanchist, Revan was simultaneously thrilled and mildly terrified when he remembered what a terror she had been in her younger years. While she had matured in their time apart, there was still enough troublemaker in her for some notable creativity during their earliest battles.

1. what made you write your wip?

hmm. i'd just finished a fic i'd been working on for over a year and i missed revan and malak, so i wanted to write just a short drabble for them. the first sentence i wrote was, "Revan doesn't kill Malak." and my whole brain went...wait, what? the initial drafts are very different than what i have now, but it all comes from my genuine love for them.

9. who is your favorite character to write?

i don't think it's a huge surprise that it's malak, lmao. most of it's because i love him so much, but my angsty heart also loves putting him in this situation where he’s stuck with the person he loves and who he's spent his life with, but they don’t remember him at all. i love writing his mindset and how he's dealing with both his grief and his desire, and how he still wants to help revan. my boy.

💝What kinds of gifts does your OC recieve from their partner(s)? What kinds of gifts do they give in return?

Bastila gets Amethylia a lot of crystals, both ones that are useful for Force stuff and ones that are just pretty. She adores each of them and has a collection of them, and also enjoys using the decorative ones as lights around the house or weaving them into clothing items as accessories.tbh I’m not even sure what Bastila would enjoy for presents? 🤔 But I could see her enjoying strategy games and puzzles, so Amy would get her those! If it’s fun and challenging for the mind, she’ll think of Bastila and get it for her.

💖 What are some little subtle ways they show that they love each other?

Amethylia loves listening to Bastila talk about whatever it is that interests her, and she’ll go out of her way to prompt her into doing just that! Also tends to deliver nasty verbal berating  to anybody who makes a “Bastila is boring/stuffy” joke. “That’s my wife you’re talking about, and she’s infinitely more interesting than you’ll ever be, so shut your ugly mouth” stuff. :DBastila will try and send positive feelings Amy’s way through their Force bond whenever she’s feeling really down and out. Amethylia’s almost always grumpy (soft to the wife and their kids, though), but some days her depression and self-loathing just really get her down and she doesn’t know how to talk about it. It doesn’t always work, but she always appreciates it and knows that she’s loved.

LOL no kidding, though. Revan’s been abducted by aliens, zombies attacked right after Lock and Carth got engaged, everyone wants a piece of the Exile, Atton’s been arrested at least once, Bao-Dur got invited to some creepy swamp party with no host, Visas is a ghostbuster, and Dustil’s an overworked prom king. Kreia’s also got a flask of angry bees and a ghost potion just waiting for the right time to use them.

I feel like I need to have an evil twin show up, or make some dude character sire a bunch of bastard children with random townies. I still haven’t made Jolee or Canderous yet either…

❣️ When did your OC first realise they were in love? How did they react to the realisation?

Vann didn’t realize the true depth of his feelings until Carth almost died on the Leviathan in the wake of Bastila’s massive betrayal. It was Vann who healed Carth back to life, something he was only able to accomplish by drawing upon the light created by his affection for the other man. That moment really put things into perspective and forced Vann to examine his own feelings.

For Carth things were a lot more complicated. While he recognized that he might have romantic feelings for Vann as early as Tatooine (when Vann shielded them both during a firefight), a lot of those emotions were tempered by the other man’s violent and impulsive outbursts. It wasn’t until they were on the Star Forge, with Malak defeated and Vann holding his mask while wondering if he could ever live up to the legacy of his past, that Carth finally realized this was a person he could love.

💘What do they love most about their partner(s)? What do their partner(s) love most about them?

Between his missing memories, his impulsiveness, and his incredible Force-sensitivity, Vann often finds himself in need of a grounding influence to help him sort through his thoughts and put things into perspective. Carth provides that and more. He’s the voice of reason for all of Vann’s more ridiculous schemes and the vote of confidence when Vann begins to doubt himself. It may sound like Carth is shouldering a huge burden, but it’s really just Carth being himself - steadfast and sure.

On the flip side, Carth found himself surviving on the Outer Rim rather than truly living. He was just going through the motions, not really caring if he made it to the next day. Enter Vann, who has never in his life done something half-heartedly. Everything he does is full of passion and determination, something that Carth admired from the start. It’s the type of enthusiasm for life that’s infectious, a walking jolt of caf that makes him want to get out of bed in the morning just to bask in all of that brilliance. If Carth is Vann’s rock, then Vann is Carth’s spark that convinced him that life is for living and not just surviving.

💜 Give a random fact about their daily life together!

Vann is a tinkerer, something that only gets worse when he’s nervous or otherwise needs to keep his mind busy. The result is that there is a literal pile of wires and parts sitting in their living room, along with any number of half-finished projects. Even though Carth complains about the mess (especially when he trips over it while half-awake and shuffling into the kitchen to brew some caf), he’s usually delighted to see what new gadgets Vann creates. Although, he’s not too thrilled with the alterations to the toaster. Or the sonic. And honestly, Dustil is still afraid to open their conservator after that one incident...

(Remember that Vann built HK-47. Just imagine that anything else he makes is in the same vein - potentially lethal and prone to questionable behavior.)
