You are one of the little power gremlins who live inside batteries and push the cranks that generate the electricity. Your co-workers are slowly dying off around you and you know that you will eventually be next. Then a crack forms in the battery casing and you get to see that there is a world outside the battery. If only you could get past the ion troll overseers and escape...
saddestsad asked: what happens when you get wet?
Neoskel answered: You don't. You're too small to break the surface tension of water.
Had an interesting dream, thought it would make a decent adventure. A bunch of people are trapped in a hospital. Anyone who tries to leave is killed by black, laser (more like disintegration beam) wielding security cameras that no one remembers being installed. All calls to the outside are cut, trying to tamper with the cameras results in blasting, theres no cellphone signal and barely anybody gets along. The security systems let people INTO the hospital, but they can't get out. So these people are all stuck in this hospital in the middle of a city but they can't get the word out for help or to warn other people off, because anyone who gets near a window gets splattered. There is some hope though. One of the camera things is slowly melting itself by shooting a laser at a mirror for some reason and the refrigerators are mysteriously restocking themselves. There's some heavy equipment down in the basement meant for some sort of special surgery that could possibly be used to damage the security stuff. The flying drone that was guarding the rooftop helipad was hit by a car (???) and was destroyed. Unfortunately our only engineer (a swell guy who probably watches too much TV) was killed after being goaded by a jerk psychologist into trying to roll past the security cameras' line of sight in the hallway in the basement. The engineer made it all the way to the end, but was then killed by a hovering camera with a sniping beam. It had killed the psychologist waiting in front of the elevator first. There's talk that the security stuff is alien in origin and must run on some sort of weird power source. Most everyone has conflicting personalities and there's a good deal of hostility. What will they do? (The dream felt more like LOST in a hospital than like the forum adventure Superego)
The young protagonist barely escapes the destruction of his home village and proceeds to head off on an epic journey to eventually catch up to the ancient evil who perpetrated the destruction in a terribly generic way. Except so does everyone else from the village, each alone or in small groups heading along different routes and thinking that everyone else from the village is dead. Well actually, only the young people head out. The older ones foresaw the coming destruction and retreated to an impenetrable bunker under the village and are using their connections to manipulate the paths of the youngsters to get them to best grow in strength to be able to take down the ancient evil with their combined strength. As was foretold.
This is more of a setting, but i guess the prequel part of it counts as a plot. Long ago, the world was in jeopardy and only the actions of a small band of heroes saved the day. The ancient spirit of healing magic (or whatever, healing was chosen here for irony) went mad, seized the powers of all the other magics and tried to destroy everything. Only the magic spirit of enchanting weapons escaped and helped the heroes save the day, but its powers were reduced in the conflict. The heroes eventually slew the mad spirit of healing and saved all of existence, but this caused almost all magics to be denied to the world. Many years later, society has recovered from the catastrophe and there have been great leaps in technology development and such. With the use of most magic being lost, everything is derived from the one magic people have left: enchanted swords. Everything is built around enchanted swords. Transportation? Carriages powered by wind swords. Power? Lightning swords. Communication? Relays of extended reach swords. It's basically like the modern world but everything is based around enchanted swords.

You are a member of an army of bestial monster people who have come through an interdimensional portal to invade the human world at the behest of your dark master. Your particular unit has been sent out to one of the far flung reaches of the human kingdom to cut off a major trading route between them and one of the other weak pathetic races of this world. Unbeknownst to you, a small army of united humans and other normally quibbling races has successfully enacted an unlikely plan to break through the core of your forces around the dark portal and are about to cause the permanent closure of the portal at the cost of the lives a small force led by one of their greatest heroes. Your unit has just successfully invaded and razed a small town when the portal is successfully sealed. Just after you deliver the killing blow to the last of the town defenders, your large spiky axe suddenly feels much much heavier, and your loincloth and skull belt are suddenly a lot looser and no longer an adequate amount of clothing. Your horns, tusks and huge physique are gone, replaced instead for a somewhat short, scrawny body. Turns out that your race was cursed/blessed by your dark master to be turned into a warlike beast people, and once the portal closed you were cut off from your master's power and the curse stopped. You no longer strike fear in the hearts of men and frankly, you don't really have any more interest in killing. Unfortunately the humans know what your race looks like now and recognize you all as the invaders who have caused so much destruction. What will you and your unit do in a world completely hostile and suddenly a lot more dangerous for you?Β Β Β Β Β Β
The world is coming to an end. There's no way to stop it and no one to blame. The universe is just too old; slowly expiring. Despair fills the air, crime and suicide are on the rise and many people just doggedly continue their regular lives in the last years of the universe. You are one of the latter persons: a foundling who has just come of age, leaving the orphanage you've always known as home. Most people don't want to raise children, not when the world could end at any moment. You struggle to get a job, striving always to ignore the encroaching sense of doom. You finally catch a break, a decent job under a fair boss with a brave disposition. Then, it happens. The universe ends... And you're still here. In a half daze you find a mysterious person standing over you. Your eyes are too bleary to make out any features, but you find his voice vaguely familiar when he begins talking to you. "Work hard. Learn everything. And above all, never give up, never give in." he says before you fade into oblivion. You wake on a grassy plain in the middle of nowhere. As you search around, eventually you learn what you can eat, where you can sleep and overall how to survive. Time passes. Over the weeks you've lived here you've only seen animals you don't recognize here, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that there is someone else here. Try as you might, however, you're never able to actually catch up with them. Maybe it's that strange man who talked to you when the world ended. Much, much, much more time passes. It's been a long time since you first came to this place. Several things have become clear to you. Aside from the person you are trying to chase down and yourself, there are no other people here. While you certainly still hunger and thirst, you actually don't need to eat or drink to survive. You remember past events much more clearly than it seems you should (though your memories of before you came to this place have become fuzzy). The strength's and skills you've accumulated have not diminished with time and you don't age any more. It's been hundreds of years. You're still chasing down that person. Your pursuit and the thought that there is someone else out there are the only things that keep you from going mad. That and the stranger's words to you when everything you knew ended. More time passes. You've constantly been on the move, trying to catch up with your quarry. You've noticed that the animals and plants around you are markedly different, more so than can be explained my mere regional variations. The climate has changed dramatically a few times as well. For several thousand years everything was covered in ice. Now that ice age has passed and the climate is again warm. You finally find an occupied camp. But it's definitely not the person you've been following for centuries. You've found a small tribe of primitives. For a time you're occupied living with these people and learning their ways, but you still have a burning need to find that other immortal. More centuries pass. You've come across other tribes and peoples and learned their culture as you were charged to do by that stranger oh so many years ago. Some revere you as a god for all the knowledge you've accumulated and your own personal power, but that doesn't concern you much. You need to catch that other immortal. Tribes turn to kingdoms, war brews, empires rise and fall. You're there for all of these things, eternally wandering. Hunting down the only person in the world that can truly understand you. Things have changed so much, yet you can't shake the feeling that everything is becoming familiar somehow... The world is coming to an end. The universe, unlike you, is just too old; slowly expiring.Despair fills the air, crime and suicide are on the rise and you are closer than ever to finding that person you've been hunting for millenia. And then the world ends. And you find him. You are once again on a grassy plain in the middle of nowhere. You see a man standing over a youth. You hear him speak to the young man slipping into unconciousness. "Work hard. Learn everything. And above all, never give up, never give in." The young man slips off into sleep and the other slowly turn to face you. You're absolutely certain that this is the one you've hunted all this time. You finally see the face of the one who has been the only constant in your life. It's you.Β Β Β Β Β Β
You are a planet. You have just recently awoken, and have no prior memories. But it feels like there's something wrong. Living on your surface are a sapient species, with cities and factories messing up your atmosphere and oceans. It's up to you what to do with these creatures. You can cause any number of natural disasters to try and destroy them, but sapient life is very persistent and will likely find a way to continue no matter what you throw at them. Fortunately for you there's an alien invasion coming in...
Plot twist:
Turns out, you're not the consciousness of the planet at all. You're actually the mind of one of the alien invaders, implanted into the planet in order to weaken the original inhabitants enough that they can seize control and wipe them out as easily as possible. You've kept an unexpected amount of free will and it's up to you whether to go along with the original plan once you remember it or not. Do you help the invaders wipe out the original inhabitants? Do you flip sides and help the original inhabitants instead? Or do you try and wipe them all out so you can grow your biosphere in peace?
