Orella huffed and puffed as she held the three boxes in her arms while exiting the post office, blowing strands of black hair out of her eyes. She didnât think it through, coming without anybody to help her. Granted, her Aunt Vivian just snorted when she asked for help and returned to inspecting her nails, but anyone who took a good look at the petite girl knew she couldnât lift more than a feather.Â
âWhy did I ever think this would be a good idea for me?âÂ
âYou know, I think the English Literature professor is obsessed with Shakespeare. Weâve been talking about A Midsummer Nightâs Dream for two weeks now and weâre barely gotten to the part where the fairy queen falls in love with the donkey guy. Every sentence she has to spend twenty minutes talking about how brilliant the guy is... Should we tell her he died a couple hundred years ago?â she asked, shaking her head.
â--- hey, just because you suck at poker, doesnât mean you get your money back. I earned this, fair and square.â
Duty bound to this small and yet bleak little town, though beyond being told to watch those higher up certainly had been SILENT regarding whatever it was that seemed to be drawing in all of the creatures that walked the earth although it was not outside of the Angelâs blindness that he could not feel all of the energy (sacrifices) and where such took place surely meant no great outcome.Â
Poor town. Poor humans.Â
For it was a nearing presence that drew the Angel from his thoughts, scanning them if only to wonder why they neared at all; mortals and other beings for that matter were strange creatures of habit...-if only they knew the dangerous territory they were wondering onto. He HOPED he would not need to show such proof on the matter.Â

âPeter, is that you?â She heard her own voice echo through her mind as she rushed over to hug him. So pleased that he was alright. And then the next thing she felt was pain. It was only fleeting though, not remembering her body dropping to the ground, but remembering it feeling so final.
The next thing she felt was the ground beneath her, but she kept her eyes closed, groaning out tiredly. Her body feels heavy, almost too difficult to move. She heard a car rushing past, figuring she was on the side of the road, with no idea how she got there. Hearing a car stop and someone else get out, she stirs a little, groaning again, trying to get their attention.
jeremy was staring at an open textbook in front of him, hoping to learn something by osmosis, or whatever it was called. osmosis, right? like osmosis jones? whatever, it didnât matter. that wasnât even what he was studying. he had to look at the cover to remind himself â earth science? ugh.  âthis is pointless,â he muttered, rubbing the exhaustion off of his face as he shoved the book away.  âwhy did i do this to myself?â he knew exactly why, to make his parents proud, and he was trying his best, but it was hard and he was tired.
