Hi babes!!
I've been with limited internet for the past week or so, which is why I haven't been updating on this at all! You all seem like you're having the most amazing times! Meah, you definitely are taking advantage of being in Uganda -- looks so fun and different and exciting!! Please keep sending pictures :) And Ryan you look cute in a duct tape bow tie :)
This past week I have been home to Connecticut to see a close friend that lives in San Francisco, to NYC to play (where we went to this really cool bar with sand and white illuminated couches overlooking the river and all of the bridges and skyline -- wish I had a picture!), back down to DC to see Memphis (sooo amazing!! incredible. seriously.) at the Kennedy Center with Tom, then back to Tom's house in Virginia and now I'm currently at his lake house in Deep Creek, MD (We all have to come out here sometime, it's beautiful!! And a ski town in the winter. I'll send a picture).
The biggest adventure of the week would have to go to the DC storm, or 'derecho' that happened on Friday -- a ginormous storm that started out west of Chicago and affected more than 700 miles of the US with a big band of severe thunderstorms. After Tom and I left the Kennedy Center Friday night we were trying to get back to his house in VA, when the wind started picking up dirt and street lights were going out, i saw a tree fall over on a car 15 feet from us! Luckily, Tom was driving an Expedition (AKA a tank) and we made it home safely, thought we had to turn around a few times for big trees blocking the way (though we did literally drive thru a tree at one point). This was somewhat fun, quite the adventure, until we got back to this house and there was no power! So my phone died, and I woke up at 6 to go to Robin and Emma's wedding when I realized (sitting in Tom's car charging his phone -- his 2 neighbor were doing the same thing at 6 AM) that my flight was delayed 5 hours. Big, big bummer. But I finally got in touch with a JetBlue person (phones were not working well!) and they told me to drive to another airport to try to catch a flight. So I dragged Tom outta bed to drive me to Reagan and made it with 10 minutes to spare before the flight closed and found a JetBlue woman to help me. Whew!! Relief!! Then she told me to stand in line as she talked with the woman at the front desk -- I saw her go over and talk, then walk away.... Um, hello?? Now, 3 minutes left before the flight closes, I ask the woman at the desk if she could help me and she had no idea what I was talking about. Long story short, JetBlue sucks and I missed all possible flights to Boston :( I got to hang out at Tom's house with no power or AC all weekend instead. So now that I have some internet I am stalking photos of Robin and Emma (and you guys!) and it looks like it was a beautiful, amazing, happy, happy day. They're maarrriiieeed!!
K that was long. I just miss you guys. Rhi are you in Nica yet?? I'll be back in Baltimore tomorrow for whoever is around :) Miss you all bunches!!
