why did you hate gaiman before the allegations came out? not a defender of him, I'm just curious
hi! some of it is explained here, i dont have it in me to recap the past 8 years i've cared abt this but to go through the main problems i've with neilman for 7 of them:
extreme misogyny evident in all his writing
his kink for having straight men have sex with lesbians which appears in some form in basically everything he writes
the way this general sexism is very typical to his genres but normally you'd see it called out while somehow he was raised up as some kinda feminist lgbt icon and fully took advantage of that position
his very easy to document lying that goes back as far as i've cared to go back which for some reason only a few people other than me were capable of seeing
the way he used those lies to gain himself online clout, especially after and since the show came out in 2019
the fact that literally everyone in the fandom just believed whatever the fuck he said for some reason despite all the above points and how extremely blatant it all was. once again!!! there are screenshots!!!! i feel insane!!!!!!!
the absolutely insane homophobic/transphobic shit he said about gomens once it released. top 3 faves have to be 1) he was writing it as a romance but it's actually better if they don't kiss 2) crowley was a woman in one scene coz he had long hair 3) terry asked him on his death bed not to make crowley and aziraphale kiss. truly just saying whatever will get him the most support in any given situation.
some of these are serious, some of these are petty, this list could be far longer but i've had a seething hatred of this fucking man for a very big chunk of my life and i dont think i'll ever be able to convey exactly why unless i dedicate a too-long video essay to it. which given how much i still unfortunately care abt this fuckass show i might have to
