Negative Standards — Fetters

2016 was a year when both Nails and Vermin Womb put out an LP, both are bands that i like a lot, but both albums had something missing for me. You Will Never Be One Of Us was a blast, but as on their previous materials i felt like their slower songs are subpar. Decline is different, because i was already bummed with VW’s first EP which completely lacks the sheer fucking chaos that made Clinging To The Trees Of A Forest Fire one of my favorite bands. Luckily we had no shortage of brutal hardcore/grindcore albums anyway, and this was pretty much the biggest surprise i heard. On their second LP, Negative Standards offers a satisfying mixture of sludge, crust and grindcore, which has a more nostalgic sound, that makes it pretty outstanding in today’s HM-2 plague.
