yes the entire point of it was to make him go back but he didnt have to be such a grade A grump in the AU either? (Dont yell at abby!) N the whole thing where it boiled down to Kate dead=good made me wanna throw up so there's that. (But then again ncis seems to have it in for women?? Or is that just me thinking this??) Also Tate makes no sense. At all. It just doesnt to me. Idk. I just didn't like that ep. It left a bad taste :3 (maybe i felt the fandom repercussions :p) and your analysis🤩💔😭

you’re totally right. and if we mix “Gibbs deserves happiness” with “Tate doesn’t make sense”, do you know what we get for the AU? Kibbs ;) sorry, but it’s basic math. they’re even dragging the pain storyline in the current seasons, and yeah, it’s getting a bit boring. not to mention we feel bad bc Gibbs is a character and we can’t just give him the hug he needs.

it’s definitely not you. NCIS is, sadly, written by (and for!) American straight white men (though with the humor and the “found family” trope, they ended up attracting all of us young people). Gibbs’ wives? crazy exes who demand alimony, who are obviously still attracted to him in some way. Kate? killed. Cassidy? Jenny? Lee? dead, dead, dead. Samantha Ryan? Agent Barrett? Hollis Mann? Zoe Keates? Jenny’s secretary, Cynthia? All those female agents that we only see in 1 episode? Gone. 

NCIS treats most women as sexually pleasing disposable objects. With the exception of Cynthia, all those women I just mentioned had some kind of sexual tension with a male character. even if they were just around for little episodes, like Cassidy. and yeah, I still ship Kibbs, I also understand that not every character can stay forever, but I don’t need every single new woman we meet to show sexual tension with a man, to be put on the list of “possible date for x”, right away, can’t we just focus on her skills? for once?

not to mention the thing they do where a woman who gives birth = a woman who is never seen again.

at least Rachel Cranston and Abigail Borin were treated with decency and respect. 

maybe you felt the fandom repercussions, or maybe it was the episode lol. I still think it’s not a good one, but that’s a personal opinion.

but if I remember it was about 9x14, yes? a ROLLERCOASTER of an episode.

I remember I liked it when it came out (have I really been watching NCIS for that long? that was 8 yEARS AGO I’M-), but now I can’t stand the Tate story and how they used old footage instead of having Sasha come over (for whatever reason, she was probably shooting Rizzoli & Isles), it looks so fake, because it’s from 2x22 and Tony was on the other side of the room so she speaks too loud. not to mention them not being on the same shot together and stuff like that.

the whole episode feels off to me, but that’s kinda the point, right? it’s an AU.

except it’s an AU where everything is wrong (there’s Tate instead of Kibbs, McAbby is romantically canon, Gibbs is more bitter than ever, Ziva’s life isn’t on track...) and so I feel like the general tone of the episode, how it was received by the main fandom (which doesn’t mean that it was the writers’ intentions), was something along the lines of “Kate alive=no Tiva; so it’s “good” that she’s no longer around”, which in turn only contributed to the Kate and the Tiva stan fandoms drifting further apart.

because let’s not forget that 1) Ziva didn’t start off well with the team, which is something that I understand, since they really loved Kate and the loss was recent.

what I don’t understand is 2) Ziva’s line on 8x14 that’s something like “Aside from the fact that we [Kate and her] were both women, we had very little in common.” why would you have that character say that, after 5 years with the team? when they already love Ziva?

so taking these 3 instances into account, (the beginning of s3, 8x14, 9x14) how could Ziva/Tiva stans have any sympathy for Kate’s character, when all they were given was things like these? not once did the writers make any effort to show sympathy, or at least respect, between these 2 women. (Kate was dead when Ziva got here, but we had the infamous ghost appearances)

(and I wanna make it clear that I do like Ziva, and I’m only referring to her stans here.)
