in light of recent events with the murder of jonathan joss, just in case y'all don't know, blue jean jacket day, the day launched two years ago in 2023 to honor & stand in solidarity with & remembrance of missing, murdered & exploited indigenous men & boys (MMEIMB) that's comparable & meant to serve as a counterpart to red dress day on may 5th to honor missing, murdered & exploited indigenous women, girls & two spirits, is held on june 6th. if you don't have a blue jean jacket, wear something blue instead. indigenous men & boys are also at risk of human trafficking & labor trafficking & are often the victims of the "starlight tours" where they're picked up by the RCMP or police & dropped off outside of cities in the middle of the winter & according to a 2020 report of statistics canada, it also showed that men accounted for more than 80% of the 201 indigenous people killed that year, meaning the number of indigenous men who were murdered reached its highest level since 2014, indigenous men are 4x more likely to be die by homicide than indigenous women & 7x more likely to die by homicide than nonnative people in canada but aren't often talked about as much in the media. please spread awareness for blue jean jacket day!
